It recognizes this device and can capture in at 720x480 at up to 20.73Mbps. The captured video is larger but doesn't have the artifacts. Be aware that an hour will proably take up about 10GB of space. However I'm capturing it to reedit it so I want the highest quality to start with. Note - I didn't install the AVS edit / playback software so have no comment if its any good.

Pros: Quick and Simple to install, and to use, plug and play. It also includes another software just like Windows movie maker, but just better. You don't need to use that software though. to convert your old media files, the basic software (along with driver) will be more than enough. I had a choice of picking this one and the expensive one ($62.99) I decided to pick this one because it is $6 cut plus more good reviews on this one.
Cons: Nothing really, but if the button REC may not work good. I used the software to record install. I can live with that.

I used to have a TV card that I have in my desktop, but I had lots of problems with that one, for one thing, the i need different cable to connect the sound of the camcorder to the pc sound card. If I have to choice the inexpensive one and this one, this one will do the job just right!

Meaning that their is a delayed reaction when people speak and what they are doing on the Video. Get a DVD/VCR Combo instead is what I would say, but I might be wrong.
You record a normal 1.5 hour video and it take up 30Gig of Space.

Cons: As far as I can tell it only works with the software provided. I tried to use it in conjunction with several other software packages and it was either not recognized at all or locked up the software. I ended up using the included software to capture and then Roxio to work with the captured files.

Pros: I have about 100 or so vintage VHS tapes, some as old as 21 years. I plan to recycle the factory recorded tapes to a senior center and find a recycle place for the broadcast recorder videos. In the meantime, the Diamond One Touch Video Capture was the most economical solution to converting the tapes I wanted to make into DVD. I got my Diamond One Touch in mid February and have been converting these successfully. There are some got-chas but all in all I am happy with the purchase. If you have a lot of tapes this is an easy way to convert them. There is a learning curve with the ULEAD software, but in general it is fine for taking the captured VHS and converting to DVD.
Learn to use the 'mulit-trim' feature and you will be an expert at removing commercials from your old recorded broadcasts. Learn to make menus and add menu clips and add music to your DVD menus to make your own personal touch to your mastered DVDs. There is still much more to this than I have space to write about.
Cons: Yes the ULEAD software could be better, but for VHS to DVD this is ok. If you try to convert DVD with DOLBY to DVD, it will
not work. ULEAD does not have the right stuff to handle DVD DOLBY or so you end up with a silent DVD.

Cons: There's a 60-cycle hum I cannot eliminate. I'm using high quality cables otherwise so I can only assume it's in the device itself. Short cables - an extension is included but it's male-to-male so you may need to supply your own if they don't reach.

This is a really cool little device, extremely easy to use and the click-to-record button is surprisingly useful. Quality is ok, there tends to be a slight scanning effect at higher resolutions but it s not bad. I do notice an increasing A/V delay for longer recordings. My biggest issue though is the lack of a timer in the recording software - you have to be present to end the recording. Overall though, it performs well, especially for the price, and is ideal for transferring home videos etc to the computer (I ve been copying old VHS tapes, both PAL and NTSC).

It does what it says it does, but you're probably better off getting something else. This product is not worth $40. When I use this device, I have to save it in DVD format then use a converter to get a high quality WMV. The WMV, AVI, MP4 options are horrible quality and there are no options to adjust bitrate, framerate, or anything. For $40 there has to be a better alternative.

Pros: Good for capturing video, but that's it
Cons: Not many options to choose from when it comes to audio or even screen resolution(you can only pick one). WMV is rendered with horrible quality and unfortunately that's the only file type that will work with the other video editing program they give you

Pros: Used on my Vista Premium (core2duo, 4gb) and XP Pro w/o and any problems. Like the portability of USB vs a dedicated video capture card. No problems yet, considering getting one for work

I hooked this item up to a PC running Windows Vista Ultimate. It took only a few minutes to install the drivers, reboot (as directed) and begin recording video. I needed to adjust the default settings for brightness, contrast and color saturation -I did this by using picture-in-picture, trying to match the cable tv output - in order to get the best picture. Screen resolutuon is tied to both format and file size. In other words, the largest and clearest picture for later playback limits the number of devices that can be used, and the file size for 1-hour will be roughly 2.4 GB. But for $30 there are many great apps to convert to other formats, and decrease file size (try Movavi s products). The included ULead software will not be used much, as I have a few other apps, but it appears to be pretty good. You really can t beat price to value here.

Pros: Plays and records cleanly, little to no delays, even on a computer that has outdated specs. Recording is as simple as just pressing one button, can record in various file types including avi. The quality of the picture is also good for such a small device.
Cons: The videos you record are saved with an insanely high file size, I got an entire gig just for a 6 minute video recorded from my wii. Make sure you get a video compressor software or something if you plan to record videos with this.

Pros: -Does a great job showing live video input - I can watch my TV or play video games on it in real time.
-Can watch the video and listen to the audio from my TiVo in real time
-No annoying delay that is present in other products
-Initial screen that pops up when you open the software is the live video: no need to dial down through menus to a preview screen or watch a little thumbnail image
-Allows you to fix the video on top of whatever else you may be working on so that you can work on other things in the backround without sending it behind them.
-Software and drivers were quick and hastle-free to install
Cons: -None to speek of, although I haven't used any of the record features.

Pros: Gets the job done when it comes to backing up old VHS tapes. I purchased this with just backing them up in mind rather than remastering them.
Cons: Wires/connections seem cheap and may be a partial cause of lack of quality. Software isn't great.

Pros: My brother needed a video capture device for a short amount of time, so I referred him to this site. He bought it on my account and loved it. Seemed to work well-- he said it worked great without any problems.
Cons: I think the quality wasn't so great, but I'm sensitive to that kind of stuff. He was happy to have a cheap capture device. I'd still recommend it to anyone who doesn't need anything for public television or college video projects.
