These 15 years has seen a switch from Midi port to PS/2 to USB. For the last 4 years we have been using PS/2 KVMs, but with most newer computers, you are lucky to see 1 PS/2 port if any at all. I decided it was time for an upgrade. This KVM seemed to be highly rated and the reviews were generally positive. Though this KVM might be good for the average user, it is in no way, shape, or form suitable for computer repair use. Since it combines both KB & M into a single USB port, many older machines cannot pick up both devises. On several machines I have worked on, it would only pick up the keyboard, leaving the mouse non-functional. Often we have to boot into a ?live PE? environment for a repair. Because this KVM does not maintain the connection when switching between displays, working in this environment is impossible. There is often considerable keyboard input delay when both are in use.

Easy hookup, no software to install. I like the button to switch between PC's as opposed to "Hot Keys".

Item is extremely cheap, and of course that should probly be expected for the price. Anyhow it takes more seconds than the normal to switch to the other system…

I used this to connect my XP Pc and my new Vista PC to one monitor, USB keyboard and mouse. it works great. Only issue is that the XP Pc does not recoginze the USB devices right away. However, my XP ignores the warning and boots anyway, so it's not a problem. ...

It doesn't constantly power the USB connection so when you switch computers it makes the USB Unplugged and USB Recognized sound in Windows. The KVM Cables aren't as long as other KVM's I've used but I didn't run into a problem in my setup. It might be listed in the specs, but I would eyeball the cables as 3-4 feet long. Just shut both computers off and connect the wireless usb port to the keyboard plug and turn things on.
