Pros: Fully compatible with pfSense (1.2.3), Untangle, Endian, OpenBSD, etc. I have (5) of these units, most of them running pfSense, some with CARP and others without. Works great with the riser card and add-in 4-port NICs - We have multiple boxes with Startech's STP-ST1000SPEX4, though Supermicro's 4-port NIC (SPP-AOC-UG-I4) will NOT work (doesn't fit). These boxes have been running for over 1 yr, many without rebooting. The majority of these boxes w/ pfSense replaced Cisco 1800 series routers that we outgrew. Great box to own. I'd love to have a farm of these at home. Pros: Quiet, low heat, rack mountable, gigabit ethernet x2, workhorse!Cons: No slim drive bay, no usb on front (not a big deal), x2 ethernet ports (would be nice to have more!)Quiet, low heat, rack mountable, gigabit ethernet x2, workhorse! No slim drive bay, no usb on front (not a big deal), x2 ethernet ports (would be nice to have more!) After we had a hard drive die and almost lost gigabytes of photos and movies, the wife said make sure it doesn't happen again. So, I bought 2 of these with 2 1TB drives in each. They sit on my desk the replicate all the media we put on them so if one dies, we have a backup. I also use them for web server, mail server and dns for the home as we have a buttload of devices like, tvs, xboxs, wiis, etc... all that gets added to the dns and files backed up.The dual gigabit ethernet ports play a crucial part in my home environment as we stream movies etc. So, I have a seperate router for one network segment which does all of the replication without bogging down the rest of the network. They both run Windows Server 2003 with no slow downs at all! It's pretty amazing how much these guys work!

Pros: Quiet! And I mean QUIET!!!Small. You could put two of these back to back in a normal rack and still have space to spare. It packs a punch with the stock setup. I am running 2008 R2 on it and upgraded to 4GB of RAM. The two gigabit NIC ports...can't beat that!
I am running MS SCE on this bad boy and it is handling the software just fine, albeit a little slow (but SCE needs some juice). There is plenty of room on the inside too for you to do your work.If you are looking for a CHEAP server that will give you good results, this is it. I can't think of a cheaper server that performs this well. And it is made in the USA!Cons: No USB ports in the front! Come on, that should be a given! That is why I'm not giving 5 stars. That is a pretty dumb design flaw.

Pros: I use this 1U server as an OpenBSD firewall and it works great. The case fits easily in a small network cabinet. Instead of a hard drive, I use a USB stick plugged in the back. For an even cleaner installation, there is an internal USB slot, but it only fits a tiny USB stick, as the slot points upwards.Cons: The hard drive is mounted internally and cannot be accessed without opening the server. Although the motherboard has 4 sata ports, the case only has room for one hard drive.I use this 1U server as an OpenBSD firewall and it works great. The case fits easily in a small network cabinet. quiet and low powerWorks well as a machine to kick around to development projects. I'm using one as a load tester for web applications. I'm using another to run a small stats package to monitor other servers. They provide a good amount of processing power for simple work.Cons: Had some trouble with realtek drivers in centos and debian. Look it up if you can' boot from your install disc. There are howtos to work around it.I wish it had some usb ports on the front.

Combining them with Intel 2 and 4 port network cards, 2 gigs RAM and 30 - 40 GB ssd drives really makes them responsive and extremely energy efficient.

I am not using this for anything but a file server and the size is just right. I bought the Combo offered with 2GB of RAM and a 1.5TB HDD, just right for the home network, it even has an available USB port for my external HDD to back up critical files. The only down side in setting it up was after my external DVD died, I had to borrow a IDE DVD from another PC to get the OS to install, and it took about 20 minutes to get the system to recognize the IDE DVD but after that it was pretty smooth. I would recommend this it is not the greatest, but for a basic server it was a great deal for the price.

This replaced an old P4 that was running as server. Heat power reduction helped our over heating server room. Any server that spend most of its time idle will benefit from this.

I used this in a collocation running PBX in a flash (a centos based VOIP distribution). It also runs a vmware 1.08 to host a backup NAS system. Worked flawlessly. Paired with two laptop hard drives in a mirror and it only drew 40 watts. We added it to the collocation without having to pay additional power fees. Totally stoked.
