I create a lot of graphics and do disk burning for other people. I have to know these DVD's will play, as it is my business to make sure they do. Verbatim DataLifePlus DVR-R discs have given me a lot of confidence in their product.
    October 18, 2010 thirdbeat says:
These have always been useful for a clean clutter-free top (unlike the DVD-R/CD-R's that have product info on top). Ready for inkjet printing, but without anything printed on them, they are also preferable. Other than that, not much difference; for the casual user, a DVD-R is still a DVD-R.
    September 13, 2010 Alex says:
Really cheap and reliable disc. Needed them for an editing class, the professor recommended them. Great for students!
    September 7, 2010 SolarMan says:
I've used hundred of these disks over several years and have only had a few coasters that were typically tied to the DVD writer getting dirty. The DVD writer can't use 16x DVDs so these 8x DVDs are a must. Print quality on the disks using an Epson R220 is always good.

These Verbatim DVDs are always dependable. I burn DVD-R for myself, for clients, and I haven't been disappointed in Verbatim yet. I've tried other brands and, for whatever reason, by computer sometimes tells me I have incompatible media. I've never had that issue with Verbatim. Also, the printable surface gives me nice looking labels.

    Pros: Inexpensive.
    Cons: Unreliable.
Inexpensive. Unreliable. I have an older standalone DVD recorder that I use for television and VHS transfers. It will only burn to DVD-R/RW, not DVD+R/RW. I could no longer find the old reliable Maxell DVD-R printable discs that I had been using for years. Having had success with Verbatim DVD+Rs in the past, I thought that I would give these a try.
If you plan on using these for DVD movie playback, steer clear! Choppy video and audio is what I came away with, on any DVD player that I tried them on. They may be okay for data, though I have not tried that, as of yet.
Stick with the reliable printable Verbatim DVD+Rs instead.
Luckily, I was able to find a vendor for the printable Maxell DVD-Rs that I prefer.

Tried many many brands before and the only brand that's in the same class with Verbatim is TY--too expensive. Verbatim is the most recommeded media on any cd/dvd burners forums and it deserved it. Printable surface works great on both my Epson and Canon printers. Cd/dvd burned using this media is readable on all devices i tried -- even first gen dvd player.

They would be much better if the print area was a brighter white. The colors don't seem as vibrant compared to the photo paper I print on. It could also be that these discs have a matte finish instead of a glossy one.

Pros: I burn Marketing DVDS for a Major Co. I have burnt close to 3000 of these disk, just burnt 300 tonight for them. The only coasters I have burnt were drive related issues. I replaced that drive and have not burnt one since.I burn with 8 drives and it was always that one. Printing labels on them looks great!!
    Cons: NONE !!

I just recently started videoing and editing weddings. I have used around 300 of these and never had a coaster. I have bought cheaper brands and have made quite a few of coasters. I use an Epson R200 printer - if you use an R200 than you know, if you fingers are damp, the ink comes off and it does with other brand disc also. The problem with the R200 uses a water base ink. The only way to stop it is. I have found spraying a clear coat on them. I have tried quite a few and the only one that works the best is Rust-Oleum (Glossy Crystal Clear Enamel). I spray one nice wet coat and it does not hurt the disc's. You can not go wrong with these - They are the best!
