We found that Logictech ClearChat headset was a good choice for our school. The ear pieces are padded and, if worn properly, cancel out background sounds. They do not cover the entire ear, but rather rest on top of the ear - they do put pressure directly onto the ear, which can be problematic for some students. The rigid microphone arm can be pushed out of the way if you are not using it. We run Mac 10.6 - the headphones were plug and play, although students need access to the system preferences in order to manually change the settings for input and output. There is a mute button located halfway down the cord which blinks when engaged. The sound quality is good and the headset is relatively comfortable. This was a reasonably priced headset that hopefully will survive daily classroom use.

Pros: Great, great, audio quality, I listen to Pandora on it. And using X-Lite 4 (phone), people hear me great too. Added bonus that you can fold the mic up when you're not using it, and the mute & volume buttons are helpful.
Cons: Big, clunky, ugly. Slightly too much pressure on the ear, but it's fine.

Added bonus that you can fold the mic up when you're not using it, and the mute & volume buttons are helpful. Big, clunky, ugly. Slightly too much pressure on the ear, but it's fine. Great sound isolation. That means you won't hear other people talking, and other people won't hear your music playing. Which means you can keep the volume low and protect your hearing.
Under Win7: When the headset is plugged in, all audio is rerouted to the headset (by default, which is what I want). The volume buttons affect the playback volume in Windows, whereas the mute button mutes the mic on the headset itself. Blinking LED tells you if the mic is muted.

I was looking for a VOIP headset that I can use for ventrilo, skype, and AIM. This headset met most of my requirements and I am glad that I purchased it. People over the programs hear me perfectly fine and the sound coming through the headset is as accepted. I find the comfort level of the headset to be good; I can wear it for extend period of time 3-5 hours. The only issue that I have with this headset is that occasionally for some reason sound would stop coming out through the headset. I would have to unplug and re-plug it in. I don't know if this is because it may be a defective product but besides that I really do like this headset compare to all the other ones I have owned.

I use these headphones for business use in a call center. I use them for 40+ hours a week. The sound is great, but sometimes the call center gets loud and the customers do complain they cant hear me. Since I wear these so much, my ears did hurt a lot until I got used to them. The cord get tangled a lot on my chair, but seems to take a beating and keep working pretty good. I have dropped them a ton and they still work. Overall, I would recommend these if you don't have to wear them 40+ hours a week

Pros: Good sound quality, people on the other end of conversations and video chats say I sound loud and clear, great cost.
I also like the clip with the volume adjuster, moreso because it's a clip so I don't have the weight of the wire pulling my head to the left.
Cons: They seem to have a weird fit on my ears, unless I position them just right they make my earlobes sore after about an hour of use. It goes away quickly, but the nuisance took a star away.

Although I don't like headphones with the padded foam instead of the fake leather or whatever they use for better-quality headphones, so I guess this is another plus.

Nice look, seem durable, usb audio (digital), decent sound Voice sounds a bit tinny and mic pics up my typing and mouse clicks First of all, I just want to say that I was really worried when I read on other reviews of this product before I bought it that apparently you cannot have this device and other devices running at the same time on windows since it's usb.. I don't know what ever sion of windows those people are running but I'm running windows 7 and I have 2 headsets and speakers running at the same time. I choose weather or not I want ventrilo audio to come through device 1, 2, 3 etc. I bought these for the mic, not the earphones, since I tripped on the cord of my last pair. All i needed was a decent mic since the one I bought at the dollar store came broken. This works just fine. As far as mic audio quality, it may sound a tiny bit strange but that's only coming from someone who is obsessed about audio sound. It's really not that bad at all and not worth taking an egg off. If people say these are flimsy or break easily, I say take better care of your electronics. Who cares if the mic is on the left side

I really wasn't in the market for a headset for my computer. However, my Master Program required me to have a?certain?computer?and a?certain?headset. They already order the product and have the product shipped to my address without me having to do shop around for the product. After I got the product, I thought it was a little wired to wear but after a while you kind of get used to the having it on. The headset does have great sound and the microphone really does pick up great sound. Now, if you want a then this is not for you. However, if you want something that is inexpensive and just to use to communicate over the Internet or make a powerpoint. Then this headset is right for you. The cost is low and the?quality?is high. It is?differently?a bargin deal for the average house members. I would recommend this product to anyone who is just using?Skype, AIM, MSN or other social media site to?communicate?via video or voice chat. This product can offer a great?quality?to your?communication?needs.

I employ this headset for business calls. I have dropped this headset at least 50 times. I have run over the chord with my desk chair 50 times. I decided to use this product for online sharing sessions with K-12 teachers from around the state. The title of the product is true to form: it enables ClearChat, Comfort during extended use, and ease-of-use with the USB plug-and-play capability. The annoying echoing caused by speaker-microphone feedback during multi-user sessions is almost completely non-existant. Long sessions tire out your behind before wearing out your ears and head. As far as USB user-friendliness, I just held a training session with the teachers, and the 30+ teachers were able to successfully configure the headsets on their computers in minutes. The only snag occurs between the headset and whichever program you plan to use for networking and virtual meetings; however, those problems are quickly resolved after a careful review of the program interface requirements. I have only had the headsets for 2 weeks, so the jury is still out on durability, but the headsets seem sturdy. I dropped my headset off a table yesterday and did not notice any effect on performance.

As a broadcasting teacher we've gone through many phases with our class sets of headphones, depending on budget, amount of use, applications, etc. Most recently we've gone digital in our video and audio editing and creation. These ClearChat USB's are more durable than the models with more swivel action in the ear piece. Less swivel means less breakage. it's an efficient use of grant and taxpayer dollars! The pads and mic can be wiped with disinfectant - important with multiple users from one class to another. And the audio quality is suitable for discerning ranges from voice to sound effects to instruments. The high schoolers in my class have no complaints using them, and they can be a tough crowd.

Disappointing on a number of fronts, but maybe I should have done a little more homework before deciding on this purchase.
I was expecting a multi-use product that I could use primarily for listening to music at my computer, but the headset/microphone are clearly intended for online chat (which I do via webcam).
It comes only with a usb connection and no adaptor for phone, iPod etc.
I find the headset itself quite uncomfortable, and the vinyl ear cups get warm pretty quickly, although they do block outside noise effectively.
That said, I haven't ever used a competitor product, so I can't say how this one measures up.

I had researched for six months for a new headset with microphone. Hoped for a Usb one with great plug and play so I also use it in the local library. Sadly the microphone arm did have the reach I wanted and it did not pick up my voice without moving the the earphones to my cheek frist. stay away forom this if you want to hear and speak at the same time.

bought these for VOIP applications, and found that there is a low electronic hum in the earpiece that is like electronic water torture after an hour.
I tried recording with both the Microsoft recorder and Audacity and the electronic hum became pronounced and the recording was unusable.
The headsets although padded were quiet uncomfortable and heavy.
I traded in for GIGAWARE's less expensive USB headset - no electronic hum, no recording issues, and light and easy to use.

These earphones pads fit on top of the ear. To me comfort means the pads fit around the ear and do not rest or squeeze the ears like these do. I can't see that these would be comfortable after an hour or so of use. On the PC they always work when plugged in, however on the MAC (Intel) System Preferences have to be set each time. That is if your line out is to a sound board or external speakers on the MAC, you will have to enter the change and possibly close the application you want to use it for before the change takes place. It's nice that the mute switch flashes when muted. I would have preferred to be able to switch the microphone to the right side of the face, but this is not possible with this product.

Pros: Decent sound, fine for music or gaming. Works well with Ventrillo, both for inbound and outbound sound. USB plug can take a good number of cord yanks, and it'll still work great even if the plug starts getting bent.
Cons: Left ear stopped working after about a year of use, though that's pretty good considering how many times I got the cord stuck on something and pulled the jack the wrong way. The USB jack sticks out of your computer a good 2 inches, which is way too much. Over time, just the weight of the cord will make the whole thing sag.

Pretty durable for the year I had them, though I was bummed that the left ear went out at a seemingly random time. May 23, 2009 Audio Guy says:
I was surprised by this headset. I intentionally bought a USB headset this time. Keep in mind THIS HEADSET IS A SOUND CARD. So, unless you write code your on-board sound card won't really be available. Maybe you can reconfigure Windows or download a utility to do what you are attempting to do.
I have used the headset for Skype and Second Life and it always works as it should. Some applications will require a restart if you are actively using the program and then plug in the headset, but you will not need to re-start Windows. I didn't test it on Windows 2000 but it works fine on Windows XP.
The drivers sound fine and you will have a hard time overdriving the headset because I am sure there is an AGC circuit built into the USB interface port since it is also the audio amplifier. The microphne could be more sensitive but for 40 bucks, who is complaining? I like the mute function on the headset, that way I don't have to soft mute with the software application I am using.
By nature, almost all interface ports are prone to intermittent connections and extreme care should be taken to avoid stressing the connection.

I bought this for my sons PS3. He just loves it and says the earphones are so comfortable on his ears. He also said the mic was slick and didn t get in the way. The sound is crystal clear and the price was so affordable. If he breaks this one as he goes through them fast I will definitly purchase another one. Last but not least I can use it on the comp. too..

The headphones are fantastic for xfire-type programs and such, but are about mediocre for music listening and such. The earbuds become uncomfortable after many hours of use, but if you re just using them for a couple hours at a time they are fine. The mic works flawlessly and the other party reports clear and succinct audio on the receiving end. Overall a nice value especially if you re using it for xfire and such.
