Pros: Easy switching, audio ports are nice. Con: The location of cables. they come out of all sides making it hard to place on a desk neatly.
    May 9, 2011 jaylweb says:
Pros: Works great! Love using hot key to switch PC's without any software/driver installs. Ability to have sound move as well is a plus, depending on your situation.
    Cons: None
The hot key to switch PC's is Scroll Lock 2x then # (1 or 2). No beep when switching. USB keyboard/mouse takes a couple of seconds to catch up, but that is Windows detecting them again. I had an old generic USB kvm that I bought years ago that had issues from the beginning. This is awesome!!

Pros: It was cheap. Well, "inexpensive". It is also cheap, but that's for my CONs section.
Cons: It's been just shy of a month and the unit is not understood by Windows 7, even after Device Manager tomfoolery and Trendnet software installation.
As another reviewer noted, it just shows the "blinky green light" on either channel no matter what I do.

I use this switch to add square footage to the viewing area for my personal laptop and my work laptop. It allows you to set up dual monitors for 2 laptops or just share a monitor with 2 desktops. Also, only one keyboard and mouse is needed to control both PC's. The overview for the product states you can listen to music on one PC while working on another using the audio cables. I have not found this to be the case. If I start music playing on one PC and switch to work on the second, the sound cuts off from the 1st PC.

Pros: Easy to install, low cost, small, works well.
Cons: Since I've been using it, I noticed it doesn't always notice I have a key held down in some situations. For example, if I have the right arrow key held down in a game, and press the space bar to jump, it will ignore the held down right arrow button after a second or 2 until I release and hold it down again. Also notice when holding down the shift key and using arrows to highlight words, or ctrl key for various shortcuts. You get used to it, but annoying enough to give 4 eggs instead of 5.

Inexpensive, small footprint, hotkey if you only use Windows Hotkey is Windows only, performance is erratic, deteriorates over time For the price, and the fact that this device "worked" for over a year, I probably got my money's worth, but no more. The hotkey works, but only with Windows, so this has to be placed where you can reach it easily. The switch started performing erratically after about a month, but still worked most of the time, except it always switched back to a Windows system at the instant that a Linux system displayed its GUI login. Started generating "no keyboard" errors at about 4 months; died completely about 13 months after I got it.

Price is right, but product has some limitations. Cables are short. Box has input on all four sides, so it is hard to find a convenient place to put it. Biggest limitation is that is does not hold settings when switching between computers. If a computer goes to sleep while not being used, you cannot use the mouse/keyboard to revive it after switching back to it. It can also take a few seconds to find the mouse/keyboard after switching. When switching it causes multiple USB gongs because it is turning off one set of USB ports and enabling the others, so it can sound like Big Ben if your sound is turned up.

Does what it says, has audio switching Hot key doesn't work on Mac Can't seem to get the hot key (scroll lock) to work on Mac OSX 10.5. My previous KVM had the same hot key and worked fine. This one has audio switching though so I'll just live with it.

Pros: No need for drivers on a Windows XP and Vista Ultimate machines, easy way to toggle between computers (2x scroll lock or manually press buttons), USB connecvtivity, audio and microphone pass thru, and small footprint.
Cons: The cables are a little too short in my opinion. But they will work fine if your machines are setting next to each other.

I have to admit that I've never seen a USB cable pass information through a VGA port, but they seem to have made it work with this device. You can see the cables in the photos. I wish the VGA and Audio cables were a little bit longer because my office setup has my PC's about 2.5 ft apart. It was barely long enough though. Switching back and forth is easy and fast, and having audio work for both is a plus. I would highly recommend this product.

Pros: Price. No significant delay in switching between computers using buttons.
    I see no video degradation.
Cons: Passes mouse, but not input pen pressure with Wacom Graphire II tablet. Will probably just use normal mouse through switch and keep Wacom to main computer.

Item works exactly as described. I am using a wireless mouse/keyboard on Vista and XP systems. Uses a hotkey to switch or manually press button. I mounted behind desk and can easily reach for pressing the button, if needed. Unless you need longer cords which seem to be proprietary, i don t see how you can go wrong with this switch. It does run the USB stuff through the monitor plug. Saves time, works fine.

I bought this switch so that I could get rid of the secondary mouse and keyboard, which I used on my second machine. The switch works great and can either be used with a hotkey or simply pushing a button. There is a bit of delay (about 5 seconds) when switching, but that is because I have a gaming keyboard and mouse which take a bit longer for the computers to recognize and use the proper drivers. Great value for such a handy item.
