I initially purchased a 100 pack of DVD+R which didn't work for my application. Not sure what I'll do with them now :) At least media isn't too expensive now a days.

Cons: The cake box arrived with a broken cover, preventing the top from locking, making handling and storage difficult. The problem was that the merchandise was not properly padded in the box, so it simply shifted around during transit.

I make a lot of video DVDs, copying from my DVR and sometimes I push the capacity a little too much. Not a single underrun problem and I'm always burning at max rate. Excellent reliability!

I don't know if it was the way it was packaged or I just got a bunk container. Just put them in the old spindle and good to go. Cant beat the price so I'm not really complaining.

No coasters yet... burned through roughly half the pack. None so far... I do always wonder about the degradation of DVDs over time, but never get a chance to really conduct a thorough comparison. Except for the occasional purchase of such Verbatim disks (they were on sale, and are fine for basic needs), I use Taiyo Yuden exclusively. They burn fast and well, and don't seem to ever suffer from degradation. Verbatim has (in the past at least) had issues for me with DVD degradation -- not scratches, I mean breakdown of the materials over the course of months/years.

Perhaps it's incompatibility with my drive or a bad batch, but for me I'll be avoiding Verbatim for a while.

After the 1st few discs I went and grabbed random ones throughout the spindle and out of those I randomly tried, not one worked in any burner :( Not a good sign and I hope this isn't a recurring problem.

7+ years using verbatims and have always been a great product from CD & DVD to DL discs. Just received a spindle a few days ago and about 25 of the random discs I tested will not work in 3 different burners I have here. After the 1st few discs I went and grabbed random ones throughout the spindle and out of those I randomly tried, not one worked in any burner :( Not a good sign and I hope this isn't a recurring problem. I will tend to agree that this was a bad batch made during the manufacturing process as I've never had an issue like this with verbatim before. If you have recently ordered these I would definately test them as soon as they arrive.

The Nvidia SATA chipset on my mainboard causes data corruption if the appropriate drivers ARE INSTALLED, and makes burning impossible.

Cons: I purchased 6 packs (600) of these and have used over half of them (300+). I got about 10 to 15 new coasters, but all in all not to bad. The packaging of shipping was terrible 3 of the cake lids were broke and some of the DVDs were spilled in the shipping box.

Pros: Verbatim is a great brand overall. The only coasters I've gotten have been because of user error. There's never a guarantee of 100% satisfaction. Always a chance for bad batches or just a burner that doesn't work well with this specific MID.

Surprised to see that these also have the AZO technology.

No Problems, Great Price Per Disc ratio. Nada I actually burn my stuff at x2 though I can go faster, but at x2 I haven't had one bad burn yet after 20+ disc. I leave my system burning while I sleep so maximum EFFECTIVE write speed wasn't an issue for me. Well worth the cost IMO, and I would recommend these to friends/family.

not one toaster can't think of any i have no idea if verbatim is better than, say, sony. never used anything but verbatim.

however, i do have a suggestion for quickly burning a dvd movie. it takes a total of 9 minutes.

first, use windows' file copying function to COPY a dvd movie from the dvd drive into a harddisk folder. this copies the movie's VIDEO_TS and/or AUDIO_TS files into folder.

this takes about 5 minutes for a 4.3 gb movie, with an added advantage that the harddisk files are playable (you can't watch an iso file!)

Great media (if made in Taiwan) Bad media (if made in Indee-uh) These discs are great, if you're fortunate enough to get the ones made in Taiwan, which use MCC (Mitsubishi Chem Corp) dye. The ones made in Indee-uh are from Moser-Baer and seem to be the cause of the problems posted here (discs made in Singapore are DL blanks). The only way to tell them apart is to look at the cake box-the Taiwan made discs have a lip around the top like the purple +R version and the wrapping does not go over the top. The others have a rounded cake box top and the wrapping goes up over it. There is also text on the back indicating where they are made. It seems that the Taiwanese versions are being phased out, so be careful when ordering. I recently picked up a few of these on sale at a local big box office store (think max) and they had both varieties mixed together on the shelf.

Digitizing, stopping or locking up the player, I "rerecord" from the first burned disc and it clears those problems up. I think it's something to do with the encryption and not the discs.

They do seem to be more finicky with what you drive you burn them with though (check for burner/media reviews around the net for references to MII/Moser Baer made discs for more info). Luckily I own two drives that seem to be happy with these - the Pioneer DVR112 (and likely most other Pioneer made drives); and the Samsung SH-S203B drive.

High quality, great price. none I have been using Verbatim DVD's for a couple of years now and have never had a failed burn that was the fault of these disks. The few bad burns I have had were because of a failing burner.

I have used these in NEC, Lite-on and Samsung burners without problem. + and - versions as well as both 8x and these 16x disks.

Cons: Well the only con is if to many people know how good this media is. Maybe it won't be so readily available. Tawain is the good stuff. I've been using this stuff for so long. The only time I get a problem if it's a hardware problem/ bad ram ext..or my mistakes. Which is almost never. I hate to sound like a know it all I'm FAR from it. I just have had great experiences with this media, and read up alot about ripping, and burning. The latter helps for sure.

They work great with all my different burners. For the purchaser with the Sony burner, that didn t have my luck: 1. Check and see if you have a firmware upgrade available, they often have improvements to write strategies that can improve your success rate. 2. Drop your recording speed to 1/2 of the media speed rating, there other factors beside media speed, media brand and burner brand that can affect a successful burn. Any windows system is going to have background processes that can start or resume at the wrong time. The result: a coaster. Minimize the risk by lowering your burn speed. 3. If you are copying a disk, try cleaning it off. If your reader can t read properly, your not going to get a good burn. When I get coasters, I can almost always trace back to operator error. My success rate with Verbatim media is in excess of 99.5%. I never burn at full speed, unless I am doing nothing else with my system and I have killed any unneeded background threads (something I don t recommend unless you know which threads those might be).

To be fair, this is with a brand-new Pioneer DVR-112D that replaced an aging DVR-109D. Could be the drive, but the "iffy" nature bothers me. Also, with the same exact media in local stores, I've averaged 1-2 error-prone, post-verification discs per 100 on the DVR-109D. These 9 out of 26 aren't even recognized by the computer.
Perhaps a Pioneer firmware update or back to pricey T-Y DVD-R.

There are only a handfull of CD/DVD blank media I have trusted over the years and Verbatim is near the top! I have yet to find incompatabilty problems or come across a bad disk! Getting a rebate is a huge plus! 5 Stars!

I ve used a huge variety of recordable DVD s over the years, and there is definitely a quality difference between the cheap data-only quality recordable DVD s and the name brand ones. Just run your fingers along the outer edge, and you ll feel the difference. I had a free bundle of Playo discs (off brand) and they wouldn t play half the time. They were good for data backups, but that s about it. These Verbatim discs worked out perfectly! They worked in all of the DVD players without complaints, and I have yet to have a bad disc. Definitely worth the money, especially since I got . :)

received my spindle and was disappointed to see that the spindle was packaged without the foam washers that Verbatim 8x DVD's had to keep the lid off the discs. Consequently the top two discs were scratched from being presseed down directly by the spindle top. One other disc had discolored dye (looked like water spots). Not quite the usual excellent Verbatim quality that I've been accustomed to.
