If this headset had a microphone that did not pop off after about 11 months, or become extremely loose after 11 months, this headset would be the ultimately perfect headset.

Pros: one ear, comfortable, USBCons: can't hear anything anymoreone ear, comfortable, USB can't hear anything anymore I use it several times a week, but I can no longer hear anything through the headphone. When the problem first started I could hear the audio breaking up and then nothing. I would jiggle the cord until audio came back and it would work for a little while but then stop working again. Finally it stopped all together. I changed the sound to go out to my regular speakers and still use this as a mic until I can find a better one ear USB headset. Another reviewer mentioned the cheap soldering so I will have to take a look at that, but that really shouldn't be necessary.

Pros: Was comfortable. The microphone was easily adjustable.Cons: All the sudden people said they couldn't hear me over ventrilo. Upon close inspection I quickly noticed one of the connections on the inside looked like it had previously been soldered on with barely any solder. Was comfortable. The microphone was easily adjustable. All the sudden people said they couldn't hear me over ventrilo. Upon close inspection I quickly noticed one of the connections on the inside looked like it had previously been soldered on with barely any solder. I've had better $12 headsets in the past. First thing I've ever bought from CA that I wasn't impressed with when comparing price vs. quality.

I recently purchased Dragonspeak Preferred for my desktop PC, and it came with a cheap microphone on a cheap headset that never would calibrate to an acceptable signal-to-noise level. The voice-recognition function was training so slowly that I thought it would never even match an older version on my laptop. I bought this AC-840 not sure if the USB function would fit. I was pleasantly surprised that the AC-840 loaded all the needed drivers as soon as I plugged it into an empty USB port (I run XP Pro), and after a reboot, the AC-840 microphone calibrated with a passing s/n level on the first try. The Dragonspeak is now happy to be learning my voice and has achieved a better than 95% accuracy in less than 2 weeks.
