250 bucks for a can't withstand a power outage? Now it doesn't work. Otherwise its great.
    April 8, 2011 BoBanner says:
Pros: I have trusted D-Link for my network needs for years. Their equipment is extremely reliable and the price is resonable. The network is stable and running with a hitch.
Cons: I really would like a switch with this many ports to have the physical connections in the rear since in my case it is not rack mounted.
Whatever issues excessed in the past regarding a noisy fan or heat are gone. It does not have a noisy fan an it is cool.

Great switch for the price, excellent performance None Awesome switch, upgraded from a TrendNET 8 port model when I finished my basement, performs flawlessly so far.

I use all 16 ports. All ports work and work well. I notice a little speed gain and no lag.

Excellent switch that came with rackmount ears incase you want to rack it with other gear. Works great, no problems, perfect for only needing about 14 ports.

excellent performance and reliability. But, a little bit expensive comparing with its 24-port peer.

Pros: Nice gigabit speeds and comes with detachable rackmounts.
    Cons: None so far.
Nice gigabit speeds and comes with detachable rackmounts. None so far. Great for those who need a high capacity switch for home or small business use. I set mine up mounted to my basement wall and now feed each room in my house with 2 gigabit ethernet ports. Wireless 802.11N is nice for surfing the web, but wired is the way to go for moving huge files around the intranet.

Pros: Nice little switch to have. Plug and play, transfer speeds seem consistent to 1GB switches. I'm happy. Rackmountable - hardware included. Nice. I've been pretty happy with DLINK products.
    Cons: Nothing that bugged me.

Nothing that bugged me. I'm noticing not a single sound comes out of this thing.. No fan it appears. Plenty of ventilation. I like it.

I was looking for three things in a switch. 1. speed 2. ease to setup 3. performance. On the first two this product met my expectations. The fan on this switch…

Pros: Works right out of the box without any issues. Stays cool, even during constant use. Haven't had any issues with disconnects or IP conflicts so far
Cons: The fan is a little loud, but I have it in a closet, so it's not a big deal

Pros: I have had both this DGS-1016G and a DGS-2208 in my small office. The 1016G is by far the faster of the 2. The 2208 does not transfer nearly as fast.
Cons: A little loud in a quite office, it says the unused ports power down when not used, it'd be nice if the fan scaled as well.

I run my own small computer repair business and routinely have 3-5 PC/MAC's on a KVM and the switch. I have 2 NAS on at all times for media and file backups, the 1016G performs better but has the sound of the PS fan a constant annoyance, if this was in a IC room, not an issue. In my small area... well I now have the fanless 2208 with its slower transfers but quite.

Like the 8 Port switch, plug it and it all works on a LAN with multiple service providers. Another 5 minute installation as expected.

Pros: Works great electrically. My small business network is fast and responsive.
Cons: The fan is extremely loud. This unit should only be used in a server room where noise is expected.

Worked out of the box, just hook up the wires and your running. The 10M, 100M and 1000M are nice. Good value for a switch with more than 8 ports.

Pros: The thing is fast, super fast. I've never been able to make the thing slow down. I often attend LAN parties and bring this switch with me, we've had 75 guys hooked up with this as the central switch (a 5 port gigabit switch was hooked up to each port of this switch) and even with 75 guys on the internet, file sharing, and playing games all night long this thing never even flinched, great improvement over some of the other setups we've run at our LAN parties where 24 port 10/100 switches caused us headaches with slowdowns.
    Cons: Lousy fan

Lousy fan The fans suck, and obviously from other reviews I'm not the only one who thinks so. Luckily they can be fixed by smacking the unit around a little (litterally). I'm not downrating a great unit for a $5 fan... I mean seriously if it bothers you so much pay the $5 for another 40mm fan and take off 7 screws (5 on the case, 2 on the fan) and replace the thing... assuming only one of the fans went bad. Pros: Have two of these one for home and office and it's fast.
Cons: Fan is really loud on both unit after it is left on for 24hr. At home I have the unit in my closet and I can still hear the fan when I walk by. Office is bad because it's sitting on my desk. It is the loudest thing in my office and that says a lot because I got a server cabinet in my office with at least 10 rackmount servers.
