Description

The GVE200 DVI-D Video Extender allows you to extend the distance between the computer system unit and the display unit by up to 100 feet. It accomplishes this by means of a local transmitting unit and remote receiving unit connected by standard solid Category 5 twisted pair Ethernet cable (or Cat 5e and Cat 6). Each of the Extender units is bi-directional meaning it can be either the local transmitting unit or the remote receiving unit. The GVE200 Video Extender System is ideal for factory and construction sites, or any installation where the display needs to reside in a harsh setting, but you want the system equipment kept in an environmentally friendly location. The Extender System is also useful for control and security purposes, where you can have the system unit in a secure area at the same time that you put the display in an area that is convenient for viewing.

DVI signal deteriorates as the distance goes up. Thought from reviews we could get a decent resolution at 50 ft but turns out VGA in coax is still far superior.
May 30, 2010 Dr. Dave says:
Pros: It will work at lower resolutions. I am sending a DVI-D signal 50 feet with it right now and the image looks good enough for what I need it for.
Cons: I wanted to send my full resolution (1920x1200) 50 feet and this product claims it can do that up to 100 feet. It wont. The signal loss is too great and the monitor stays black. If I lower the resolution a little I get a consistent signal, but only with annoying weird lines and lost pixels and I hated the way it looked. I have now settled on 1280x720. At this low of a resolution I have a nice picture with no artifacts. I can watch videos too. The color is just slightly washed out, but I don't know that it is this product that causes the washout. This monitor never looks perfect unless it is at its native resolution (1920x1200)- which this product DOES NOT transmit. You have been warned.
