Pros: Currently i have this configured between a workstation and a server and it works flawlessly, takes no more than 2 seconds to switch between machines. The unit does not need to be in sight you can leave it hidden behind the monitor or the towers. You can setup hotkeys to switch between the two Pc's. Mine is currently "Scroll Lock". All i have to do is hit "Scroll Lock" twice and it switches. Highly recommend for anyone who is short on space for two monitors or trying to save $$$.

Pros: Does what it's supposed to do, supports Mac and PC
Cons: Expensive, accessory USB ports on keyboard are disabled
I own a Mac (well, several actually) and a PC. I need to be able to use both, often at the same time. But I own only one monitor. I had an old manual a/v switch I used for years till it crapped out, and I'd been switching cables, keyboards, and mice ever since.
This is a nice alternative that also allows me to eliminate a mouse and a keyboard, because I can use the same one for both the Mac and the PC. Yes, the Mac keyboard works fine on both. No, I haven't had any problems switching back and forth.
I like the length of the cables unlike some here; my workstation is pretty spread out. Another KVM I looked at had 4 foot cables, which in my case wouldn't have been long enough. The manual is a bit skimpy but tells you enough to get it running. It took me all of five minutes to connect all the cables and set the hotkey. I switched the hotkey to Ctrl-F12 which seems to work better for me.
There are a couple of downsides I see to this dongle. One, obviously, is cost...$53 is a bit steep, $40 would be more reasonable. Still, it works, and the cords are long and appear fairly robust. The second downside is that the USB ports on the Mac keyboard no longer function as they should, so popping a USB key is out of the question. Oh well, there's ways around that.

This is a great KVM solution for anyone that simply wants to share a keyboard, mouse, and monitor between 2 computers. The built-in keyboard switching is a major plus as some comparable models require a separate switch to be used.

IOGEAR MiniView Micro 2-Port USB Plus KVM Switch with Built-In 6' Cables was easy to set-up. The only problem was the plug and pray feature of windows had a problem with the initial set-up. A quick view of FAQ at the 1OGEAR website cleared that up real quick.
It is a pleasure to use two computers (one for email and word processing and one for digital photo editing) via one keyboard, mouse and monitor. I'm also glad I spent the extra bucks for the unit that combines the audio too. A GREAT PRODUCT.
My only negative comment is the six foot cables. They could be shorter. With two PC's set side by side six feet of connecting cable just adds to the clutter under my desk.

Pros: This KVM switch does the job with minimal packaging. The unit is smaller than a pack of cigarettes and is robustly constructed. It does not require wall power as other models do which keeps installation simple and tangle-free. The cables to the two PCs are plenty long (6'), and the USB, sound, and VGA are neatly combined into a single cable for all but the last few inches. One of two green lights indicates which side is active. It can be controlled with a keyboard so that the unit can be tucked away out of sight without wasting workspace.
Cons: The switching is normally done by tapping SCRL-LOCK twice. Some keyboards (like my wireless logitec) does not have a SCRL-LOCK key so I had to change the setting. Changing required a triple sequence with exact timing. I could not enter the sequence with my wireless keyboard so I grabbed an old wired keyboard out of the closet. Even after that, the sequence had to be entered perfectly and it took many attempts. It took about 30 minutes in all to change the default setting. Now that I have it reprogrammed, it responds to double CTRL and works great with the wireless keyboard. If you don't have a SCRL-LOCK key, be warned!

Pros: Works as advertised, easy to use.
    Cons: Price
While doing some MCSE course work I needed the ability to switch between the domain controller and member/terminal server in the environment I had created. Since I needed to do this with one mouse, keyboard, and monitor, a KVM was the logical choice. This item fit the bill in that it is small, easy to connect, and has worked flawlessly; the thought of switching the mouse, keyboard, and monitor as frequently as would have been required made me cringe. A quick touble-tap on the scroll lock key and switching occurs near instantaneously. I have had no need of the audio connections on this KVM, so I can't comment to it's effectiveness in that regard.
The only downside that I see is cost. For such a rudimentary two computer KVM, at just over $50 I find that to be a bit on the high side. I feel something in the $30-35 range would be much more realistic for a product of this nature.

Simple to use, performs well. Not versatile enough. I recently purchased the Microsoft Wireless Ergonomic Comfort Desktop 5000, which I planned to use with this KVM switch. This mouse/keyboard set uses a single transceiver for both devices. IT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THIS KVM SWITCH. You must have separate transceivers for the mouse/keyboard.
I would have preferred a mode on this switch that allows straight USB pass-through instead of mouse/keyboard emulation.

Strange. It takes restarting to get it working at all again. A pain but not a dealbreaker yet. Also getting the switch into the mode where it recognizes with machine is which is slightly annoying but once you get it set up you never have to do it again.

Cons: 1)the converse of that. G15 (version 1 w/ LCD & 18 macros) doesn't interact with it's software. It uses it's own keyboard driver instead of acting as a USB hub.
2)Blurry due to VGA. Monitor recently tested on: Acer x223w
3)May just be due to age, but on the G15 it requires pushing scroll lock faster than a nintendo turbo controller pushes it's auto button.

Cons: Not sure if this is a con, but when you switch away from Linux, the system logs that the mouse has disconnected, and when you switch back to Linux, the system logs that the mouse has been reconnected. Put simply, when switching away from a computer (regardless of OS), it is just like pulling the USB mouse wire out. So this explains why some users have noted mouse redetection issues. For me, it works fine in this regard. My Linux and Win2000/WinXP all continue without a hitch, and the Windows OSes never say anything about mouse redetection for me. So all workings appear to be done transparently.

Quite simply, this KVM is an excellent alternative to a pricey docking station for my company-furnished laptop. The main feature, USB connectivity, solves some issues with PS/2 based KVMs, but may introduce new issues, as some users have noted with cordless keyboards and mice. The only way you can say for sure is to be ready to return this if it doesn't meet your demands. No shame in that. As for me, running a standard, corded USB keyboard and standard, corded USB mouse, I couldn't be more happy.

Bypassing the kvm works. Replacing the keyboard doesn't fix the problem. I bought my 2nd one before the 1st failed, which fortunately gave me the luxury of waiting several weeks for igear to send a replacement while I used the working unit. I've been perplexed by the failures. The keyboard and mouse work fine w/o the KVM. I've replaced the keyboard once, before the KVM failed again. I wonder if static or similar could be the culprit, but the KVM is the only device that fails. It may not make any difference, but I take care to match the keyboard and mouse to the correct ports on the KVM.

I have to Auto adjust my LCD screen (push 2 buttons, not that big of a deal) when switching over to the PC, but that is expected considering the on-board stock video card on my PC. Machines DO NOT have to re-aquaint themselves with USB mouse and keyboard. Product works flawlessly even shutting off my laptop and taking it with me. When I return and hook it up to the docking station, the mouse, keyboard, and monitor work instantly.

Pros: Might work for other people
    Cons: Didn't work for me
Basic problem of this device is it 'emulates' a keyboard and mouse, rather than passing-through your specific device information. As a result, if you have a wireless keyboard/mouse desktop kit that only uses a single USB port on your computer (as I do), you can only use one device. There are 2 usb ports on the KVM switch, one is dedicated to mouse, the other to keyboard. If you plug your desktop combo USB to the keyboard port, your keyboard works but not your mouse. If you plug in to the mouse port, the mouse works, but not the keyboard.
It seems not to care about wireless -- but the inability to use both a keyboard and a mouse makes this device absolutely useless to me.
While I didn't play around with it too much, I believe that my multimedia keys on my keyboard would not work, either (again, it emulates a standard keyboard, rather than passing through the actual device you own). In short - if you have a keyboard/mouse combo and/or a keyboard with extra keys, this device is not for you.
If I find a KVM switch that works for me, I'll try to come back here and update this review. Until then, I'd have to recommend staying away from this particular device to those who have a combined keyboard/mouse, and recommend caution to anyone with enhanced keys (such as multimedia).

Cons: There are no ferrite beeds on the cables for ESD protection. This leads to a problem with hot swapping and my switch got burned. So make sure the computer is powered down before unpluging the monitor connector.

When I bought a new computer, I guessed that I could use the LCD TV that was already in the room, but it was a chore moving and connecting it, and had to use 2 complete keyboards and mice etc. Since I had a great deal of Data to migrate, it required a few days, so I sought out a "Y" wire to connect both computers to my monitor and was informed of this product by the salesman. It was $60.00, but I was assured I could return it. Sealed in industrial plastic, as all electronics are today, I was skepical about returning it, but it had an easy rip open case, which could be re-sealed. It was all inclusive for keyboard, mouse, and even speakers for both computers! It connected easy through USB, VGA, and microphone plug, and held all the wires together to alleviate the "spaghetti" effect behind the scenes. Just a simple double click on the scroll lock key, and the other computer was displayed, even repeatedly. Great idea!

Around the time he stopped using the KVM as he moved to one machine full time. He gave the KVM me and I used it in the office. After a week the keyboard stopped responding. His keyboard "problems" were likely caused by the KVM. It's what caused the KB problem in the office. Of course the KB worked fine plugged into one of the machines. I had been using a Belkin Flip with two Computers I use to play Music for Rodeos, and it worked fine. I built up 2 new Mini ITX Computers, nothing exotic, 1.5G Pentium on ITOX VB-7001 Motherboard. The Belkin Flip would not work on these Computers. Neither the external Flip Button nor the Scroll Lock Key would toggle between the computers. I could toggle using the software and double clicking the Flip Icon. However, when I shut the first computer down, there was no way to toggle to the second computer to shut it down. There is also a 5 second delay before the Keyboard and Mouse are available with the Belkin.
I went back to the IO Gear KVM Switch, and it works flawlessly. Scroll Lock key toggles and the Keyboard and Mouse are available IMMEDIATELY. Also, when I shut one computer down, the Scroll Lock will still work to toggle to the second computer so that it can be shut down.
I definitely recommend this KVM Switch over the Belkin.

You occasionally need to reset the USB connection to the PC. Hold [NumLock] for 2 seconds, press the [-] key on the numpad. The caps and numlock lights will flash, then press F5 to reset the connection.
This isn't a problem with the device, it is the plug and play failing to properly redetect the USB devices when you switch PCs. Try unplugging your keyboard several times, you'd probably get the same result.

I use USB headphones primarily, so haven't been affected by any sound issues. No problems with devices stopping working, yet (only have had it a little over a week).
Cons: The icons for the keyboard and mouse ports are *underneath* the ports on the bottom of the device. Since IT DOES MATTER which port you plug your keyboard and mouse into (atypical for USB), these icons should have been more prominantly displayed on top of the device. The manual does explain this, though, so no pts deducted.

Pros: When it works, it's a capable KVM switch
Cons: Keyboard connection always became unresponsive after 20 min. w/o activity. Unplug, replug, ok. Eventually replugging stopped working and a call to tech support returned the advice to unplug the device from all connections and power down the computers for 10 mins the replug, reboot. This worked for a week, annoying a fix though it is. Then it just stopped working.

My ps2 iogear KVM worked flawlessly for years. When the tech support person told me about the power-down-wait fix, I asked her if a lot of people had called with this problem. "Well, some." Uh-huh.

Cons: Audio through this unit is noisy and reduced in frequency response.
Doesn't work reliably with linux box - plain USB mouse stutters, jumps around and runs to screen edge; plain USB keyboard drops characters and goes into auto-repeat mode randomly and often. Just unusable.

But the mouse side did, so not sure if the keyboard side does not have enough power or what
