I use it with Windows 7 Media Center and it just plugged in an worked even though it says Vista on the box. The RF works reasonably well around my appartment although I sometimes have to move it a bit to get action if I am in another room. Great to be able to play music in the living room but be able to pause it from the study if the phone rings.

Pros: I have a media server in the garage feeding video over cable to our rooms. We use this remote with the USB receiver in the attic to control the server. We have two of these remotes and they worked well in Vista 7 throughout our entire house.
Cons: In Windows 7 the back button no longer functions. I believe this is a key mapping issue but I haven't found a software fix yet. Keyspan needs a driver update to fix.

Pros: When in range, instant response. Works well with Win 7 - automatically installed itself in under 30 seconds. Big, well placed buttons. Small USB receiver stick.
Cons: Range is not "up to 90 feet" as advertised, but more like 20-25 in reality. Can't use it across the house or from other rooms if too far away. Receiver plugs directly into USB port - no dongle or extension - placement options are limited and can affect reception. Too many reception "dead spots", even with active USB repeater extension to move receiver around.

Too many reception "dead spots", even with active USB repeater extension to move receiver around. Had high hopes for this based on other reviews. Bought this to replace a next generation rc extender (rf transmitter in the battery converts any IF remote) for house-wide control with one less device. A mistake - the next gen extender works far better with a standard IR remote - much longer range. But if in the same room, this one should work well.

Pros: I was able to set it up with my Ubuntu box. I really wanted something plug-n-play for Linux, but this was NOT it. I wanted to avoid lirc, after an unsuccessful trial in the past for a different remote. So, after paying $40 for this non-plug-n-play remote in Linux, I decided to give lirc a second chance. You need to use lirc and set it up as a mceusb. After hours of googling, I setting it up, and it works great with mythtv, boxee and mplayer.
    Cons: Size?

It took me a while to figure that one out, after following the Keyspan tracks.

Pros: Works perfectly with Vista Media Center for my needs. No delay when navigating media center. Plug and Play install. Wireless RF (works from anywhere). No interference with my other RF devices or wireless network.
Cons: None for me. I highly recommend this for a living room htpc setup for media center - though don't think it would be ideal for non-media center navigation.

I highly recommend this for a living room htpc setup for media center - though don't think it would be ideal for non-media center navigation. I was skeptical about how well this would work. Previously we'd been using a wireless RF keyboard with a trackball to navigate around media center from the couch for movies/music/etc - which never felt as natural as the remote we use on our MCE 2005 system in the other room. This new remote has worked flawlessly on our Vista htpc. We still use the wireless keyboard for web browsing or non-media center tasks - but the remote is perfectly for what we needed it for.

This remote was beyone simple to setup. I just plugged in the dongle to an open USB port and bam it worked flawlessly. My computer is not next to the TV, but on the other side of the livingroom (out of sight). This remote was the perfect solution because it is not IR. It works so well I find myself pointint the remote at the TV when using it (eventhough the TV is not near the puter). :)

Pros: Works like a champ. Plug it in (Vista 32 bit Ultimate with Windows Media Center) and it works. No drivers, no fuss, just works. My old infrared remote was a real pain, had to point the remote at the receiver in just the right way. Not with this, it works from anywhere in my house's lower level using RF signal.
Cons: I wish it had mouse support. For media center only, it works great. Would be nice to be able to have mouse movement as well, but that is not really what it's designed for. But could be...

Nice solution if your media center PC is one room and your output (projector in my case) is in another. Get the TV or movie going at the PC and take care of the rest from the media room. Works through the walls fine although I m only about 25 away. Some others have noted that this is primarily a Media *Center* solution and that s true. It s not a substitute for a mouse and keyboard not is it intended to be. Having said that, it stills functions for playing and pausing in Media *Player* and probably has a few tricks up its sleeve that I haven t discovered yet. Now if I could just find the users manual I apparently already lost. Keyspan doesn t see fit to post one on its site

This works exactly how you expect it to. Good design, intuitive controls. I did have to move the receiver to the front of my computer to get a clear signal and it is a bit awkward to hold if you re channel surfing but I m satisfied with my purchase. Makes it so much easier to watch TV and movies on my computer.
