The joystick is awesome! It has security, unlike the force feedback ones. I like the color scheme: black and white, and also the buttons are so compact and close together so you can manage your throttle while moving and managing the plane. The rapid fire button makes shooting much more easier too!

Amazing stick with excellent tri-axis response. Can set aileron, elevator, rudder trims... radio PTT, camera view, flaps, VORs all on the stick itself, in addition to the pitch, yaw, and roll capabilities. I haven't found any. I really don't know how hard these people are on their joysticks, but I have had this one for over 2 years and it is still functioning perfectly! I can only assume that those who are complaining about calibration issues are cranking on the stick, thereby setting off the center 'deadzone'. I guarantee that if you fly a real plane that way, you'll die.

Pros: Fantastic joystick. It is 100% accurate when you pull it out of the box. The rudder really helps when flying. The 12 buttons work great and have a nice feel. The joystick is stable.
Cons: The joystick loses calibration after about a week. To avoid having a big problem don't use the software for the joystick. Just configure it with windows that way you can re-calibrate it. When it gets really bad look up a tutorial on how to clean it. This has been a known issue, and I bought it knowing this.

I got this joystick as a X-mas gift for someone.
Long story short, the Z axis came messed up (turns to the left, and upon calibration turns to the right). seems to be a problem with construction of the handle; in which the spring or peice that holds the spring is loose, causing undesired sensitivity.
We went back to the store today and got another however this one is in even worse.
Going to return it and get a refund. Especialy after going online and finding so many people with the same issue.

I just bought this product and if you set the "dead zone" to like, 10 percent or so, then you won't have the twisting problems. Just edit the axis for each of the axis things.
To some degree, you can correct for things. Using the dead zone, you can keep a neutral position when you intend to. Also, you can program each button to any key using the "assign command" function.
"assign keystroke" does NOT work for some reason, don't bother with it. otherwise, great program thus far.
With the throttle, if you wish to use it as an extra button, just set it "throttle on-nothing" "throttle off-your choice". That way you don't have this weird glitching thing if you bind it to a command key.... haha. Then u just switch it on and off to activate that spell/ability.
    works great for WOW
    September 29, 2010 jdr2000 says:
I just got this joystick, largely to play some old Windows/DOS games on my PC, though DosBox. I was used to the CH Flightstick, but I needed a new USB-based stick.
This fit perfectly. The feel is good, plenty of buttons, and good response in X/Y/twist. Minor gripes: The 5/6 buttons are a little hard to reach; The hat could be a little lower and larger; would like one more button on the shaft of the stick for secondary firing.
But the best element is the programmability. Not just any button to any key, but the "zone" feature. This works great for mapping both slow/fast strafe control to the twist, for example.

This is a Nice heavy and Stury Stick. I've had mine for over 5 years and bought it for 20 dollars US. It is accurate and easily calitbrated, set up is plug and play. Have never had a problem with mine. Take care of your gear and it will take care of you. I gave the ergonomics a low rating as I'm left handed and had to adjust instead of there being any thought of that occurance.

I don't know how someone had this work perfect for six months to a year but mine when i got it home and took it out of the box had the twist problem others have mentioned. Would not calibrate at all. So i took it back thinking just bad luck and got a lemon. Nope the second one did the same thing so i am taking this back and getting a regular run of the mill control stick that i know will work. Take my advice don't be lured by all the whistles and bells, keep your hard earned cash and pass this one by.

This will not work with Vista or Windows 7. After about a few minutes of playing FSX, I get the blue screen. This is most certainly a driver issue and the company refuses to fix. I will be returning this for a new controller by the end of this week.

Highly recommend them based on their quality for the great price. None that I've noticed so far. I can see how the point where the cord connects to the joystick could ware over time and possibly cause connection problems, although mine hasn't yet, but I resolve this problem by placing some slack cord under the raised base of the joystick's platform to avoid ware and tare on that point.

Pros: Well-placed buttons; smooth throttle; wide, sturdy base.
Cons: For use with the right hand only.
Plenty of buttons, all well-placed and responsive. Wide base allows me to use it comfortably in my lap. The only thing I take issue with is that on the Specifications tab, the joystick is listed as being "universal" (that is, for use with either the left or right hand), but it's with one-hundred percent certainty designed only for a right-handed user, hence the low rating on Design (though I imagine for a righty it would be a fantastic design). There is no way to switch the grip, and the presence of all the "extra" buttons on the left (as well as a thumb-button on the left side of the stick itself) make it perfectly clear, though the website advertises it as being ambidextrous.

Pros: I bought this stick for Flight Sim 2004 and I love the feel of this stick. The snappyness of it is great when flying small planes such as Cessnas (or even fighters) and the stability is great for flying jumbos. Ergonomics are also great; button placement is nice and solid, and nothing feels like it's going to fall apart. All of this for under thirty dollars.
Cons: As other users have pointed out, the joystick does develop a large dead zone on the (for me) left side, making the joystick useless. I found that turning off the computer and turning it on again got rid of it, but it came back after a few minutes. However, I didn't have this problem in a year, and the joystick still works fine.

None I can think of. I've "NEVER" had a problem with it. I play a lot of Flight Sims on-line and I really like using my Saitek X-52 for those but for a "SIMPLE" quick hookup(USB) and an easy to use joystick, I feel it's well worth the $$$$. I've had mine for 2 years when it cost $35.00 USD and look what it's at now!! Enjoy ;)

I bought this a while ago to use with Joint Ops for flying helicopters. The only thing i didnt like was the unweighted base, in heated matches it moved.

It's also pretty tiny, but it does help in keeping the overall design appealing. Since I rarely play games that need a joystick, mine hasn't gotten a ton of use and thus has lasted a while. Pros: Good stick that adds yaw control to the usual pitch and roll controls of conventional joysticks. Never really had trouble with the pitch or throttle controls
Cons: The zero point seems to drift as time goes on and the stick seems to have a lot of play in roll before sending a roll signal to the computer. It loosens up after long term use (6 months or so) and it registers large spikes in roll while the stick is still in the zero position. The yaw zero point has drifted pretty far left decreasing my yaw authority.

For people like me who only need a joystick for one or two titles (I still haven't kicked my Freespace 2 habit!) or infrequent gaming, it's a good product. If you're going to be using it heavily on a regular basis, either expect to replace it in a year or invest in a more robust solution.

A month after use of this controller in a couple of my games and I've noticed considerable tilt in the control while only slightly moving the stick in the opposite direction. Obviously if I want to slowly roll to the left and it immediately does a hard right roll then I may be in for a doosy of a time. I would suggest getting something a little more concrete unless you wish to use this controller only on occasion.

Like a lot of the other I wanted a cheap alternative to flying in BF2. Flying with this is a world of difference compared to the keyboard. Cheap, works great, if you're thinking about getting one for BF2...get it!

Pros: All the features you would want in a joystick. Has throttle, Z-axis (rudder), hat toggle buttons, nice collection of other buttons. With all the features listed above, a 30 dollar price tag is a great price.
Cons: Don?t be surprise to see this joystick become unstable after 6 months of use. Most people have reported the Z-axis starts jumping around or stop working all together. Even after calibration attempts, you won?t be able to stop the axis from jumping around. I also don't like the lack of friction in the throttle.

Even with the cons listed above, I still think this is a good starter joystick or a good joystick for those who are not serious flyers and need for limited use in games like BF2. However if you are looking for a long term investment, I would not put my money into this joystick, pay more for the reliability.

Pros: I actually bought this at the BX on base, but it is the same remote. I bought it to fly in BF2 and it has performed wonderfully. My kill:death ratio in jets has gone from 1:1 up to 15:1. You can't beat death from above for xx$.
Cons: Could be a bit light, but I keep my left hand on the base when I fly to keep it from moving.

I just got this controller, plugged it in, and the y-axis doesn't work. I tried it on multiple machines with the same problem. I am quite unhappy.

The only thing that would work is making the dead zone way too big, which makes it nearly useless as it's not sensitive enough to be practical in a good flight

update... I had mentioned in my earlier review that the joystick was pulling slightly to the left. This was easy to fix. The joystick is self calibrating. So, if it gets out of alignment, just simply unplug it from your USB port for a few seconds and then plug it back in. Good as new!!! 8-)
