Pros: This is a great solution for proprietary controllers using the older and hard to obtain 4 to 20 Gig parallel IDE drives. We used Norton Ghost to backup the hard drive to CD-R's. Then used Ghost to restore the backup image to the Compact Flash card. Using a 15MS/Sec CF card it seemed to be about the same speed or slightly faster as a 5400 RPM hard drive.Cons: Many of the hard drives in the controller PC's that we have used the holes on the bottom to mount the drive. Since this CF to IDE adapter DOES NOT have the mounting holes on the bottom of the bracket it slowed the install time when trying to mount it in the same location that the original hard drive was mountedThis is a great solution for proprietary controllers using the older and hard to obtain 4 to 20 Gig parallel IDE drives.
