This Compact Flash IDE adapter is a perfect solution for accessing CompactFlash (CF I, CF II) and IBM Micro Drive media, allowing you to access the flash/micro drive media as if it were an IDE hard drive._x000D_ The CF/IDE adapter can be installed in the computer case through simple mounting in an available 3.5in drive bay, for connection to the computer IDE bus through either a 40 or 44-pin connection._x000D_ Designed and constructed to provide a reliable media card platform, the CF IDE adapter is backed by StarTech.com's 1-year warranty.

    Pros: This is a great solution for proprietary controllers using the older and hard to obtain 4 to 20 Gig parallel IDE drives. We used Norton Ghost to backup the hard drive to CD-R's. Then used Ghost to restore the backup image to the Compact Flash card. Using a 15MS/Sec CF card it seemed to be about the same speed or slightly faster as a 5400 RPM hard drive.
    Cons: Many of the hard drives in the controller PC's that we have used the holes on the bottom to mount the drive. Since this CF to IDE adapter DOES NOT have the mounting holes on the bottom of the bracket it slowed the install time when trying to mount it in the same location that the original hard drive was mounted
