Pros: I got one of these to connect my BenQ DW1655 DVD-RW drive to my Asus Rampage III Formula motherboard (to an ICH10R port under Windows 7 64-Bit). So far, this seems to work great (except for a few issues below). So far the fastest burning speed I've tried is 8X, and that works o.k.Cons: The adapter comes with a SATA cable, but I wanted to use one that came with my motherboard. This has a metal retainer clip and wouldn't fit in to the adapter. Also, my motherboards BIOS has the SATA ports set to AHCI mode (instead of IDE emulation). With this setup, I can't boot from the drive connected by this adapter. I was able to boot the attached drive with the BIOS mode set to IDE though...I got one of these to connect my BenQ DW1655 DVD-RW drive to my Asus Rampage III Formula motherboard (to an ICH10R port under Windows 7 64-Bit).

I had an IDE hard drive for a new SATA desktop PC. I plugged this device into the back of the drive and--without any drivers or other software to install--had a drive my computer recognized right away. It's been running seamlessly for several weeks. I don't even think about the converter anymore.
