The number one feature I'd mention is that the wall plug rotates to accommodate whether the wall socket is right side up or upside down.
There is a small green LED that illuminates when it is plugged into the wall.
The wall plug has a plastic sleeve, to keep the pins from being bent during travel. The sleeve attaches to the bottom of the surge protector to fill the space between the device and the wall, so it stays parallel to the wall when plugging in devices.
The two USB charging sockets work well to charge a smartphone and iPod. The other sockets work well to operate and protect a laptop, etc.
I have not used it in an environment with poor main power supply or during a thunderstorm, so I can't attest to it's surge protection quality, but it does give me a warm and fuzzy feeling to use it instead of plugging directly into the wall.

I like this surge protector. I always bring it when I travel. There are a few small issues I have with it.?The plug prongs do not fold it for travel.?Not a big deal. It does come with a plug protector that you use to hold when you hit the button to rotate the plug. It turns all the way around.?It could be a little smaller.?It is really wide. It's about as wide as two single row surge protectors.?The plug is located to the far left (or right -- I don't remember exactly) so plugging something onto the far right moves the whole unit so you have to be careful. The plug cover (that thing used for turning the plug) has a lip to be placed on the opposite side to "balance" the unit, but it does not make it flush with the wall as it was intended.?The "issues" are small and do not stop the product from working. I recently went on a trip and plugged my phone and iPod in the USB ports, and my computer, camera charger, and the hotel lamp in the outlets. I didn't unplug the alarm clock as it was already set, but all my electronics were protected. This product could easily be used at a home office or near a nightstand as a charging station. I would recommend unplugging surge proctors that do not have on/off switches because they use electricity even when nothing is plugged in (when you see that little light, you'll know it's on).

PROS The swivel plug is a great idea and useful in many instances. Combined with a surge protector makes this a must for the traveler. USB ports for charging your MP3 player a nice feature for some. Unit is well designed and constructed.
CONS A bit bulky but tolerable. Like many surge protectors, the protection indicator light is bright so be prepared to cover it with tape if the light bothers you in a darkened area. Pushing the release button to turn the swivel plug is stiff.
OVERALL I am happy with it. Would recommend to others.
May 17, 2010 Nat Selection says:
I can't really say anything bad about this product. It has three plugs which is usually enough for computing and two USB charge connections. Super useful for iPhones or other devices that can be charged via USB. Even fits in my laptop case. The rotation feature is amazing, i've only had it for a month and i've already used this feature on 3 separate occasions. I have yet to experience a surge so i dont know how it would handle that.

the plug rotates - sometimes if the plug is not rotated into the correct position then no power is going to the outlets or to the usb - it can even slip into this "non-functional" position sometimes. so when you go to grab your USB charged phone or iPod in the morning it may be dead or still low on batteries.

Pros: Works as promised! Swivel adjusment is a nice touch.
Cons: BIG!. It's approx the same size as my lappy's power brick! I can't think of anytime that I will actually use all 3 outlets. Maybe they should consider making one with only 2 to help with size reduction? Regarless, it's still portable enough to travel with.

I saw an earlier review that desribed issues with charging 2 usb devices at the same time. I'm able to chage my phone (HTC Hero) and mp3 player (Cowon D2) at the same time while also charging/using my gaming laptop. BTW - The usb slots are "quick" charging. Not slow like when plugged into a computers usb slot (limitations of usb on pc).

It's small, and if not for other problems, would be good for travel. Like another reviewer, mine only needed to be bumped into once to break; my Blackberry (which was the only thing ever plugged into the USB chargers) did not draw power. The design seems actually likely to cause this; the plug cover, which is supposed to provide stabilization to the rear, might help...except it doesn't actually reach the wall when the device is plugged into a standard wall socket. It would if the plug was flush with the wall, but I've not seen any.
    February 9, 2010 Anonymous says:
Pros: Travel size with some protection
Cons: The problem is the trade-offs: they want to make it portable and small, but if your charger is the type with the block on the plug, it takes up two slots.
It won't charge my phone and Kindle in the 2 USB slots at the same time (common complaint) -- the .5A is too low for some usb charge devices.
Plugging anything in while the unit is plugged in is awkward.

    Pros: -USB charging
-Leaves one connection on your outlet open
-Doesn't look space age or utilitarian (I like the looks of it)
Cons: Because it extends so far to the side, awkward to unplug BUT... cool little attachment to facilitate this problem. The attachment holds the non-plugged end away from the wall so that you can push the surge protector toward the wall as you pull (unplug) the attached cord. Works well.

I feel a little bad even mentioning the "con" as it is a problem that you expect and could hardly avoid. However, I just wanted to point out that it is different than a "6-block" style that covers your entire outlet.

What I don't like about it is how bright the protection light is. I have this in my bedroom and it lights up the corner of my room at night. Another thing is that the plug swivels but the button that has to be depressed to swivel it is extremely hard to push. You feel like you're going to break it.

I bought this last month and have already used it on two excursions. It worked great on a two hour intercity bus trip with constant power fluctuations. The USB slots allowed me to charge my cellphone, iPAQ and GPS at the hotel without bringing along three different AC adapters.
It is chunkier than I expected, but well worth the luggage space if, like me, you travel with an assortment of electronic gadgets.
    November 6, 2009 JorgenJespersen says:
I like this product, my only complaint is that the 3 plugs are pretty close together. I was hoping that with 3 plugs they would be better spaced out, it's practical and good fro traveling.

    October 23, 2009 Centauri27 says:
Top marks to Belkin for designing a compact power outlet adapter packed with many useful features: three grounded plugs, two USB outlets, and most of all, prongs that ROTATE to allow you to orient the unit most conveniently. I have an unusual two-outlet combo adjacent to a light switch that makes using any conventional outlet multipliers impossible. The Belkin unit swivelled to a vertical position fit the bill perfectly.
Other thoughtful touches: it came with a USB charge cable (don't know if I'll ever use it, but thoughtful anyways) and a prong cap to prevent the device from scuffing up your equipment when tossed in a computer bag. There's even a grooved slot to store the cap when removed. And wait! When parked in the slot, the cap becomes a stabilizer to help keep the unit from mashing into the wall when you insert a plug! Ingenious.
The negatives are fairly minor: the device is indeed bulkier than it looks; the unit must be unplugged in order to rotate the prongs and the rotation button is tiny and hard to press. Plus, it took a lot of pressure to insert a power cord into the Belkin outlet. The manufacturing tolerances may have been a bit off.
At the regular price of $19.99, the Belkin unit is fairly priced. But it's often discounted to $14.99 or $12.00, making it a definite steal. Especially when you consider a single USB power adapter from Apple is $40.

This is a Great product from Belkin. The only draw back is that the unit is unstable in the outlet due to its length. When you plug in electronics while the unit is in the wall it has a tendency to want to tilt and pull out of plug. Hold onto the unit while plugging in accessories.
USB ports are AWESOME to have to charge my Zune and Motorola Razor Phone ! !

Since I travel a lot, this is a critical piece of equipment. It travels well (compact) and I have faith in the Belkin brand. The USB charging ports allowed me to leave my phone and mp3 adapters at home too...

This is a nice little surge protector and I got it for my niece so she could charge her USB devices in it. She has had some problems with it because it doesn't fit flush to the wall or outlet plate on the back of the surge protector. So sometimes the end of it gets pushed against the wall causing it to pull the plug out of the outlet a little bit. She will think she has something plugged in but, because the plug has pulled out a little it isn't actually charging.

Pros: My job locks down USB ports for security, making it impossible to plug in my iPod to charge. This works great for charging my iPod without setting off any "security alarms" on my computer. The surge suppression and rotating plug are nice features, too.
Cons: A little bulkier than expected, making it a little less convenient for travel.

The inclusion of two USB ports really helps with charging of iPods and other items when computer is not on. The plug cap storage is kinda out of place, but that is the only drawback. The rotating plug is great, as are the three plugs.

Cons: Larger than expected, although doesn't cover both outlets.

It works it looks neat but as soon as I got it out of the box it broke. It didn't break to the point where it isn't usable. The button on the back that changes the position fell through so now I can not adjust where it sits. So unless I want it resting on the bottom plug it needs to be plugged in the bottom.

Pros: It is cool featured, inexpensive, and has double USB Charging.
Cons: They hide the clamp speed on this model, which makes me suspect it sucks. On Belkin's BZ103050-TVL model, which looks identical to this one, they blatantly advertise the less then one nano-second clamp time. On this and other versions they do not. That says to me that it doesn't clamp that fast, which makes this worthless as a surge protector.

A handy surge protector with 2 USB ports to charge. Unit will swivel to ensure that the second wall outlet is not blocked when unit is pugged in. Has three outlets which is really handy when you want to use a portable printer and external HDD or burner. Built solid, ligth weight, and small enough to fit in laptop bags or back packs. Also has a life time warranty if it does go down hill. Can't beat that.

    Test the button before shipping.

This surge protector is really well suited for travelers like myself. I would (and have) recommend it to anybody that needs to do any amount of traveling with any gadgets that cost much more than $50 simply because too many places have unreliable power outlets. I travel a LOT, often with a laptop, Cell phone + bluetooth ear pieces, MP3 player, and usually a couple of other gadgets. I wouldn t risk all of those to the poor quality outlets of hotels, or the generally questionable power grid of California where I travel most. lt;br/ gt; lt;br/ gt; I have a single complaint about the physical design, which is the button used to rotate the plug is extremely difficult to press. It s flush with the surface, and slightly concave. It s also directly adjacent to the prongs, which makes it awkward to try to use solid objects to press on the button while trying to rotate the prongs. I would have preferred Belkin place the button on the side and raised it up from the surface even slightly to make it easier to rotate, and possibly to rotate while it s plugged in. I bought two of these surge protectors, and both are equally difficult to maneuver. lt;br/ gt; lt;br/ gt; To address some people s complaints about the USB ports not charging some or many of their devices. A couple of the devices named simply don t allow (or like the PSP, have settings that prevent) USB charging. So far none of my gadgets have failed to charge, though I ve only tried a few, not exhaustively tested them all.

Why risk your expensive laptop and accessories on dubious hotel power? Play it safe with this handy little insurance policy. Easy to use and it includes 2 USB power outlets to charge up your cell phone or iPod. Truly a no-brainer.

I purchased this surge protector for a great price, I found it online somewhere for $10. The thing is that this surge is a little misleading. I have only gotten the USB ports to charge my ipod. It does not work with my PSP or with my Treo. Its supposed to work with mobile phones and mp3 players and virtually any other USB charging device. My Treo is a mobile phone and it does not work. I tested the same cable with my mac and it charges fine, it just doesn t charge with the surge protector. Its still a great product but it needs more info about it.
