Use to get close up pictures, closer then a regular/standard lens.

Wonderful piece of glass for macro photography without the price of a macro lens.

This lens is a great addition to the bag. Its ability to capture great detail is incredible. We use it with the stock 18-55mm lens that came with our T1i (with UV/Polarization filters). I can honestly find no flaws with this lens. I use it for ultra close-up model railroad photos and my wife uses it for just about anything that she wants to capture up close - plants and flowers, animals - you name it!

    Pros: Durable; Sharp image
    Cons: None
This lens works great as a close-up lens for my HFS100. If you plan on zooming in though, you will need a tripod/fluid head and a focusing rail. The magnification you can achieve by zooming in is just too much for hand held shots. I had ordered the Adorama focusing rail (part # MFRS) with the lens. The rail is smooth when adjusting focus during recording. There is no focus shift when zooming.

I was going to get my girlfriend a macro lens, however I talked to one of my friends who is a photographer and she said that I could do this for now and it would let her take the close up pics she wants without the high price of a macro lens. My girlfriend loves it so far and cannot wait to see what a real macro lens can do. Overall great service and a great product.

    Pros: Durable
I'm quite happy with my close up lens purchase. I'm not ready to invest in a separate macro lens yet, so this allows me to capture close up images with the lenses I already have.
It does take a little practice. Auto focus works well with the 18-55 lens (using the 55 end) but it struggles with my 55-250. I'd found it easier to just manually focus with that one.
There is a sweet spot with the close up lens. Slowly move the entire camera forward and back and you'll find the spot where the focus is sharpest.

I get such great detail on my art projects.. Love my lens.
    December 11, 2009 Hootsie says:
At this point I can't afford expensive macro lenses, so this works great for me!

This Close up lens is more than I expected. It is without a doubt an absolute essential for your field bad. I could not think of a single thing that is sub-par with this lens.
    December 21, 2008 Sam says:
I use this lens to take close-ups of flowers mostly. Its great for beginners that don't want to spend a ton of money on an expensive close up lens. Great item for such a low price

there is not one negative thing that i have to state about this product, i can get close and it works with my camera and my projects, i specialize in close-up photography, and this delvers the perfect narrow depth of field.
    September 1, 2008 JimStrutz says:
You don't get as good of images as with a real macro lens, but this double element close up lens gives far better results than the cheap single element versions. You do need to stop the lens down for best results though. All in all, it is a good option if you don't want to pack a large macro lens with you all the time.
    August 24, 2008 Tom says:
I use it with my macro lenses to really capture the fine detail of flowers, insects, or just abstract shots of machinery... tom

Only used this one once so far, but some lovely shots of bees on blooming hibiscus.
    June 4, 2008 JayArrgh says:
This is great for the budget conscious photographer that wants a good macro lens but cannot afford an actual macro lens. It's also easy to carry around with you and screw on the end of your lens when you want that close up without actually changing lenses.
    May 28, 2008 Eddie says:
These filters produce nice, crisp images. I stack 2 for extreme close-ups and get no distortion. The construction is also impressive. Highly recommended.
    April 15, 2008 Marine from 65 says:
This is my second close-up lens and I use it with non macro and macro lens for that close up shot. An inexpensive way to go macro.

Strengths:nice, sharp lens ... Weaknesses:little heavy/bulky excellent glass. i use it on my nikon cp8800 (with the help of an adapter ring) and its combination…

This lens does exactly what Canon says it does -- it allows closer focusing than without the lens. It is easy to use, and requires no special settings on the camera.
