ENABLED MY CAMERA TO BE MORE EFFICIENT AND ALLOWED ME TO GET MORE BANG FOR MY BUCK!! GAVE ME ZOOM CAPABILITIES!
July 18, 2009 Paul in MD says:
I bought this for use with an A710IS along with the LA-DC58G lens adapter. They work well together with the camera. This lens easily screws onto the lens adapter. The body of it is plastic, not metal. It isn't rugged like a pro SLR lens. But it has a solid feel to it. And the image quality is fine. As another reviewer noted, when you're zoomed back wide, you'll get substantial vignetting. But I bought it to extend the tele range, so I'm usually zoomed in anyway, where you don't get the vignetting. For the camera's image stabilizer to work right, you do have to remember to change a menu setting so the camera knows the teleconverter is attached. And remember to change it back when you remove the lens. So if you're taking a wide variety of shots zoomed way in and way out, it's a little bit of a pain, not quite point & shoot anymore. But the lens does what it's supposed to do nicely.

I bought this one to use with my GL2 camcorder but it was not a good choice. Poor focus. Poor image stabilization. Poor colors...

The first time I used this lens was at an outdoor music festival. It really adds to the capability of the camera! It is quick and easy to attach and detach. With this lens, I was able to get close ups of the musicians without being obtrusive. The portability of having the small lightweight Powershot 720A instead of my bulkier and heavier Canon Rebel digital was great. I already had the converter, as I had previously purchased the wide-angle lens for this camera. I would definately recommend it.

I purchased this for use with my A620 and the Canon LA-DC58F Lens Adapter. The added tele is great, and the IQ remains excellent. Two things to be aware of. 1 With the A620 zoomed back to full wide, you will get substantial vignetting. 2. The close focus range is increased by 1.75x, so close items may be too close to focus on with the lens on. Problems Encountered: None Previous Equivalent Items Owned: N/a Items I Recommend: Canon WC-DC58N 0.7x Wide Angle lens, LA-DC58F Lens Adapter
