Description

The CyberPower CP800AVR UPS is the ideal unit for basic to mid-level computer systems. The 800AVR not only guards against surges, spikes, sags, and brownouts, but also protects your computer system and valuable data during a power outage. The Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) monitors incoming AC power and regulates output to a smooth, consistent 120 volts. This model also has full dataline protection: RJ11/RJ45 (phone, fax, Ethernet, network, DSL) and RG-6 coax (DSS, cable modem, satellite, cable TV). PowerPanel PE Power Management supplements the backup/surge protection by monitoring the vitals of the UPS and safely shutting down your system in case of a power outage. The standalone designs allows for vertical, horizontal, or wall mount. Surge-Only outlets are perfect for the addition of peripherals such as monitors, printers, scanners, iPods, or CD/DVD players.

Cons: I'm on my second one of these so far. Both have performed the same - poorly. I bought them from a local retailer, not New Egg, if it matters.
Even though the Power Panel says that the UPS is fully charged and has 18minutes of back up time - it doesn't work (on either of the two that I have). The Self Test feature of the Power Pannel cuts the power and causes my computer to reboot. A power outtage causes my computer to reboot. A power surge causes my computer to reboot.
Any time any of those happen the UPS buzzes like an angry wasp, but fails to keep power flowing to my CPU and monitor.

Pros: Works as advertised, power keeps flowing when the plug is pulled. The provided software, PowerPanel Personal Edition has a decent UI, a decent set of features and information, and seems fairly bug free. Powering a Core 2 Duo E6750 with 4GByes, 4 hard disks and an Nvidia 6600 (system draws about 100 - 120 watts), the battery will last about 25 minutes (no monitor included).
Cons: The system has an "autorestart" function: After line power is restored, the system waits about 70 seconds, and then briefly power-cycles the battery-powered outlets (the power is cut briefly, for a second or two and then restored). An attached computer will sense the off-then-on power cycle and, depending on BIOS settings, restart the computer. (Otherwise there would be no automatic way to restart a computer that has done an orderly shutdown on battery power.) This is all a good thing.
However, if the power goes out, the computer shuts down, the power gets restored, and then during the next 70 seconds (before the autorestart power-cycle happens) the power goes out again, then when the power comes on the 2nd time the system does not perform the autorestart function, which means any attached PC does not get restarted. So there is a 70 second window during which a 2nd power outtage will leave any attached PCs in a permanent off state.

    Pros: ~15 mins loaded up.
Cons: Can't turn on or work at all without a battery.
~15 mins loaded up. Can't turn on or work at all without a battery. 1/2 egg off because my UPS battery died in just 3 years without HEAVY power drain. 1/2 egg off because the UPS won't even turn on with a dead battery. This means that you can't even use it as a surge supressor until you replace the battery. The 4 eggs are for reliability. I've observed maybe 4 power lapses and 1 outage where it went for ~30 minutes in 2 years. The last one (the outage) killed the battery so completely that the UPS wouldn't turn back on - replaced it and it's working fine again.
It lasts ~15 mins with a few devices plugged into it. I'm trying to make a profile of all my UPS units, seeing what they run for how long. Never believe the runtimes posted because they're just not true even under ideal circumstances.
U-Verse Residential Gateway and 3 External Hard drives and the UPS battery is drained in ~15 mins.

I had a Cyberpower 1500 UPS a long time ago, and the remarkable thing about their warranty was that they covered the batteries, too. It was malfunctioning near the third year of service, and I called Cyberpower to find out was wrong. From the unit s behavior they were certain that it just needed new batteries, so they advance-shipped me two new batteries for free! Cured the problem and I kept using it for several more years.

Pros: At first it worked properly without fault.
Cons: After only a few months of use, this UPS no longer works as expected. 3/4th of the time, it misses power outages and gives an overload signal. Yet only item on battery backup is my computer CPU. I have tested my max load of my computer and it never exceeds 3 amps or 345watts. This is nowhere near the rated capacity of the UPS and I should not be seeing any overloads.
I have tried contacting the manufacturer with no success. Always get a line busy signal.
At first it worked properly without fault. After only a few months of use, this UPS no longer works as expected.
I recommend going with APC. I own other UPS's from APC and none of them have given me this many problems.

Pros: Works like a UPS only provides backup power when there is none.
Cons: Only boosts AC volts up when down to 90vac (Which all AVR UPS do) this will cause your PC power supply to fail and computer reboot. Also does nothing for protections and power quality only true double conversion UPS do. Which also provides a true 120VAC 60hz sign wave. Line interactive UPS do not. These UPS's are only for back up power nothing to do with Power quality. Some people should research before thinking they know what a UPS is for.

    Pros: None
Cons: Had over 20 of them fail in various locations - office and home. While they seem to handle blackouts, they drop power completely during short periods (less than 1 sec) of interruption. At work we had 4 occassions of short power outage and 50% of the computers on these UPSes rebooted. At home, wife turns on vacuum and my computer reboots because of the momentary power drop. Manufacturer replaced ~10 of them directly, but doesn't admit any problem.

Pros: In the past year I have used a CyberPower UPS, I have yet to be impressed or satisfied with any features offered by this product.
Cons: My unit has never behaved (beep and light como's) in a way that corresponded with the included instructions. My unit blew up on me last spring (blown as in a loud pop and white smoke), and I spent $20 shipping to get it fixed. Last week, the unit blew up again in the exact same manner.

I have a 300W non-CyberPower UPS running a different PC that was not blown either time, so I doubt my house is a power spiking nightmare.
I have no confidence in CyberPowers products, and will be avoiding this brand from here on out.

Pros: Easy installation and works fine
Cons: The run time on my system is shown as 7 min which is not even close to what is advertised on the box. I am not really surprised but somewhat disappointed.

Worked right away... no problems so far. Had some trouble getting the software to work with Win2KPro but a few reboots and plugging and unplugging of the USB got it going. Keeps a gaming PC, 17inch CRT, cable modem, and router going for 10+ minutes. More than enough time to save and shutdown. Software automatically shuts down PC at your specifications.
