Description

The CyberPower Systems CP900AVR UPS offers advanced power protection in a sleek and rugged tower. Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) ensures that all your electronics are receiving clean and stable AC power. Designed for mid-level to upper-level computer systems, the CP900AVR guards against surges/spikes, and also offers battery backup in the event of brownouts or total power loss. If your PC is unattended, PowerPanel PE Power Management software will automatically save and close open files and also shutdown the computer system in an intelligent and orderly manner. The CP900AVR also has full dataline protection: RJ11/RJ45 (phone, fax, Ethernet, network, DSL) and RG-6 coax (DSS, cable modem, satellite, cable TV). The convenient tower designs allows for placement on the floor, inside a workstation cabinet, or directly on the desktop. Surge-Only outlets are perfect for the addition of peripherals such as monitors, printers, scanners, iPods, or CD/DVD players.

Pros: Does what it's supposed to. Maintains a constant and consistent power source. PowerPanel software available from the CyberPower website is reliable and minimalistic with system resources. Protects power, ethernet/phone, and coaxial cables. Includes a battery protected socket spaced properly for a "wall wart."
Cons: Only has 1 socket spaced for "wall warts." The other 7 sockets are too close to each other for these power adapters.

The other 7 sockets are too close to each other for these power adapters. This provides seamless transitions to battery power and has functioned beautifully. I have an i7-930 system with crossfired Radeon 5770s and a 22" 1080p monitor hooked up to this and I get 15 minutes of battery life at idle (220w). I have maxed out my system at 526w and this UPS didn't even flinch, except that my battery life dropped to 5 minutes.
Overall, if you don't need any more than 560w of battery backup this UPS will serve you well.

This was a really confusing batch of cables, software (which I don't think I need, and can't find out what it is supposed to do and it needs a usb connection and I don't have an extra usb port in my current computer.) Plus, I was disappointed in the spacing of the outlets. I have 4 surge-protected and 4 battery, but lots of those large "box" plugs and could only get 3 things plugged into the battery-protected and 2 things into the surge-protected. (My friend suggested I plug a surge protector into one of the battery outlets and that took care of the major issues there.) Otherwise, seems to be working well.

Sets up easily and operates reliably. No cons, though its shape made it a bit awkward to install. The line-interactive design with AVR is much better for my purposes than a simple standby unit. Also, the firmware displays the battery backed-up wattage, which is good to know for a number of reasons. It is set up so that when under load it is operating at no more than 60% of its rated capacity.

Have had no trouble with this UPS. Purchased to power a Linux server during periodic brownouts. Could not get the NUT cyberpower driver to work on the serial cable. Tried the newhidups driver instead on the USB and it worked great. None Wish the power switch also controlled the 'surge protected only' outlets as well. I also would like hardware vendors to provide driver source code for their hardware or support GNU groups to develop and make available that code. Availability of this code for a piece of hardware is often a critical factor in my purchase decisions.

    Pros: Cheap, good capacity
Cons: The included software has a horrible memory leak, after a couple of weeks it's using upwards of 500mb of ram and it just keeps climbing, completely defeating the purpose of using a UPS in the first place (so I can leave the computer on for extended periods of time without issue, I consider running out of ram when I have 2gb available an "issue").

It had a small odor at the beginning, but that passed after a couple of days. Apart from the memory leak I don't have a problem with it.
