The CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD is relatively expensive compared to other UPS devices with similar capacity ratings, but what really distinguishes this model is its 'Pure Sine Wave' output. Although modern electronic devices have become increasingly resilient to minor power spikes and drops, a regular UPS switching to battery power may sometimes cause ...

I purchased this for a Mac Pro set-up that includes an Epson Stylus Photo R2880 and NEC 22" Multisync monitor. The reviews on this unit were significantly better than on the brand I had used previously, so since I was upgrading my computer to the Mac Pro, I decided to upgrade my UPS as well.
    March 15, 2011 Bobbo909 says:
This review is based on one week of service, which included a power failure.
This UPS is a replacement UPS for a 2009 Mac Pro eight-core computer, Radeon 4870, four internal hard drives, and a 24? LCD monitor.
The computer was asleep when the power failure occurred. The LCD screen on the UPS indicated an estimated run time while asleep of 150 minutes. The UPS handled waking the computer up just fine and indicated an estimated run time of 17 minutes (computer at idle).
The UPS is virtually silent in day-to-day use. It?s directly compatible with Mac OS X?s energy saver (power control) system preference; not all UPS?s are. The Windows software is easy to use with a nice interface. It pulls data from the UPS to include current power usage and estimated battery run time.
I selected this UPS because of its adaptive sine wave feature which should be more compatible with newer computers. In addition, it has received good reviews in on-line forums.

Pros: No issues so far with this backup. Adaptive sine wave makes the unit totally silent in battery mode, no annoying buzz and monitor interference as with…

I had an older UPS from another brand and it was finally time to upgrade. There are many features I really like about this model. Some are:
    1. 10 Outlets, I have most of them used with my two monitors, High End Gaming PC, NAS, Phone System, Headset, Document Scanner, Speakers and Printer. Note, 5 outlets are not backed up by the battery, just surge protected, which is fine for the printer, scanner, and headset and speakers.
    2. 1500VA: This should give me plenty of runtime when the power does go out. I found an article on why sinewave here that may be of interest: [...]
    3. LCD Panel: Cool to look at, lets me know how much power I am actually using, and when I unplugged the UPS from the wall showed me how long it would last before shutting down.
    4. Sensitivity adjustment: Where I live we get short periods of lower voltage that caused my other ups to kick on and beep all the time, I adjusted the sensitivity on my new 1500 and I have not had a problem at all.
    5. Cable Line Protection: I hooked this up just in case, although lightning is not too likely to occur where I live.

Pros: Long runtime, supports PFC Power supplies (Energy Star 5.0). 900 Watts and less than half the price vs other Sinewave UPS.
10 Outlets allowed me to eliminate a power strip and organize the power cords behind my desk.
    Silent!
    Cons: None

Pros: Looks nice in the images.
Cons: Came smashed up and the box wasn't taped shut. The box seems to be too flimsy to ship a 25lb item across the country. Got an RMA replacement hoping the next one would be packaged better for shipment. The replacement arrived in the same packaging worse off than the original. The case is cracked in three places, vents are broken and the battery slides around inside. RMA refund this time.

Better packaging please.

I just installed my CyberPower CP1500 unit, and it looks awesome. So far it has been easy to install and use. It is bit large for my desk but I feel relieved and safe having it as a power backup. The LCD looks awesome when it is lit up, a smart and good addition to anyone s computer. Definitely a great way to protect your computer and any other hardware you may use. This is a Social Writeup

Pros: Looks nice. LCD displays lots of info without being garish. Compatible with Active PFC power supplies. Two front-facing USB ports (:D), one of which I've been using to charge my Zune.
Cons: None worth mentioning. I had an embarrassing moment when I first set it up, but like I said: nothing worth mentioning.

None worth mentioning. I had an embarrassing moment when I first set it up, but like I said: nothing worth mentioning. I have my laser printer hooked into the non-UPS side. When the printer comes on, the power spikes up to 175 watts or so. I know this because the UPS gives a little beep and shows me. Sweet. :D
I bought it for my in-home computer repair LLC. The unit is cool enough (in a way) that I show it to dudes when they come over. I know, I know. I'm a geek with a dash of nerd, I suppose.

Pros: A great product -- easy to set up out of the box and the menu screen has great summary information. Liked it so much I bought a second CP1500PFCLCD.

A great product -- easy to set up out of the box and the menu screen has great summary information. Liked it so much I bought a second CP1500PFCLCD. None. Most modern Energy Star rated systems have Active Power Factor Correction built in -- I felt I needed something compatable with that. I bought one of these for my new Home Built System and liked it so much I just recently bought another for my Home Server, cable modem, router, & Gigabit network switches.
