There are way too many "overcritical" comments being made about these speakers. I've been a hardware tech for over 20+ years, these speakers are much better than the rest in it's class.

- The sound is also not as rich as a good headset. (No speaker system is.)

- If there's one "real" flaw, it would be that it doesn't get super quiet. If you keep turning your Windows sound volume down, it will get to a minimum level (which is too loud for night time usage if you have a room-mate in the same room), and then if you try to go any lower, it will just be muted.

People that have complained about not having any low end need to take a look at these speakers and understand that they are not going to make a lot of bass. That being said, they still have decent range and the highs are fairly clear. At this price, you get quite a bit.

I would venture to say that the low ratings claiming that the speakers only work half the time, that there is an issue with the system's USB drivers and not the speakers. They work great and I'm going to order another set.

Cons: No turning knob for sound, there are only buttons. which means the sound volume gets turned up in a stepping stairs type process. You cannot adjust the volume via your computer sound controls because the speakers use that to adjust its volume anyway. So you start out at 0 sound. press the volume button up once and it goes up to a medium sound (i thought it was a bit too much for the first sound level). after that it gets louder. Like it is supposed to

So I dont recommend this if you are going to be listening to stuff quietly. I think it is the perfect volume if you are not trying to be quiet. But if you are trying to be quiet why do you have speakers? get some headphones. the speakers are great for anyone who just needs some sound.

I use my laptop by my bed at night to watch tv and movies. The speaker built into the laptop is not nearly loud enough and headphones are uncomfortable while lying in bed. These little speakers raise the sound up well enough for me to hear it near my bed. They might not be loud enough if they are farther away in a larger room with more background noise, but right by the bed they are perfect. I also like that they have volume control and mute buttons on the speakers.

None I switched to these speakers to save electricity. We have six computers in our home and all of the old speakers had power bricks which used a small but steady amout of electricity. These new speakers shut down when the computer does and therefore save a little energy.

It doesn't pick up interference badly like my onboard sound did because this isn't an analog device.

They're small, saving you desk space, and they don't need a power cord, saving you an outlet jack.

I saw a review stating you can't mute, but you can -> middle button mutes your Master Volume on your system.

Cons: It installs a new sound device to your system which cannot "hear" your other devices, meaning if you have anything plugged into your Mic or Line In, you're not going to hear it.

Volume control is fidgety and volume buttons make a loud click. I don't even bother - these buttons merely adjust your system's Master Volume. I prefer to do that with my mouse.
