    Pros: Good Price
Cons: Sounds sad, but for a rack mount, the ports are not laid out well, and the less than 19" width makes this look dumb on a rack

A lot of ports for a small-medium network. None. A lot of people are writing review about the "loud" fan, the fan is no louder than any PC fan. You can barley hear it if there is a PC in the same room.

Pros: Nice package, small, slim, fits in my 12in deep comm. rack nicely. No dead ports. Nice clean Netgear look. Multiple mounting options. Fan for cooling. I have had this about 4 months now and its working great. Major upgrade from the 5 port D-link router it replaced, no more swaping out cables to get one thing or another on the network. This is in a new utility room and despite the rather warm temperature in the room it has been completely stable.
Cons: Like a previous user stated it does have a couple fans, and they are a bit noisy, probably wouldn't want it on a desktop.

The fans were a bit noisier than I had anticipated, but all-in-all, this seems to be a good 16-port switch. A good value.

Plug and play operation. No problems with either switch. They do have a fan so there is a little bit of noise but nothing to worry about. The JGS516 definitely has a fan. I have one in my den closet and another in a central wiring cabinet in my bedroom closet. The noise levels are nothing to be concerned about...in fact I don't even notice the bedroom one anymore.
I'd definitely recommend this switch for the price...1 gigabit with jumbo packet handling for about $150...I couldn't find anything that could touch it for the price.

I had no trouble, never had to reset the switch ever since I installed it, back in march. (september now). N/A It is a bit loud to keep inside the office or bedroom, but if you can place it in a closet, you're good to go! (talking about the fan here...)

Works as advertised right out of the box. I am using this as a central switch for my server node. None. Intitially I was concerned that it would not mount into a 19 inch rack because the dimensions list it as 13 inches wide. However, the rack mounts extend the width of the switch to 19 inches. Perfect fit.

I plugged it in and it worked mostly. I was replacing a smaller gigabit switch with this one. I had problems getting some computers that had 1Gb cards to talk to the switch, or only talk intermittently. I addressed the problem by switching old cables with new ones and the problem went away. The old cables work fine on connections to computers that only support 100Mb cards, and the old switch did not complain about the cables, I m disappointed that the switch did not work at 100Mb with the old cables thus the lower Ease of use grade. lt;br gt; This switch is FAST I m getting full 1Gb transfer rates via multiple full speed connections. lt;br gt; Strongly recommend the switch now that I know what to expect.
