Pros: This product worked absolutely perfect for me. It burns great. Although my main concern is not speed but whether or not it burns successfully. I hate to burn something only to find out that it did not burn successfully. Out of 60 discs, only 2 did not burn successfully and that was due to the fact that the source disc was faulty. Other than that, these work well. I read a lot of reviews talking about the difference between discs made in IN and the ones made in Singapore. These discs where made in Singapore so there must be something to the IN vs Singapore thing. I would recommend that you try these if getting a successful burn is your main thing. If speed is your main concern, then you may want to try the higher priced Verbatim discs. I know that for my money these are great for me.
Cons: I just wish they were cheaper.

I assumed these 8x dvds would have the usual Verbatim brand quality, because I had purchased and used the purple-tinted 6x Verbatim +R dual-layer dvds previously, and found I could burn them at 8x for the best quality. I actually got 99% burn quality score when rated with DVDinfoPro error testing, after burning them at 8x. So, now I purchased this 15 pack spindle of Verbatim DVD+R DL 8.5GB 8X Branded, which are not purple-tinted, and have more type on the disk, as well as purple/blue packaging versus the 6x purple/orange. I can only guess these are manufactured in a different plant, as they are the WORST dual layer dvds I have used. (I have previously also tried Memorex and Matrix...Memorex wasnt too bad). I can only get them to burn effectively at 2x, having tried 4x, 6x, 8x, and even 12x. They usually do not fail outright during a burn, but if you test for errors afterwards there are usually terrible PIO / PIE issues in the 2nd layer. I did manage a quality burn at 2x as previously mentioned, but I did not pay for 8x dvds to burn them at 2x. Stay away from these.

Pros: I posted a couple reviews back flaming these disks but I've figured out how to get them to work in my player. Ignore the "Pros", "Cons" & "Other Thoughts" titles. I'll just tell you what I did. If you don't know what your doing, then DON'T try this at home. Doing so could turn your drive into a paper weight.
Cons: These are indeed MII (Made In *ndia) Purple label 8x Verbatim disks. They have a "MKM 003 000 (00h)" Media ID code. I use a much loved Benq DW1620 to burn and, as expected, the ID code isn't in my firmware. This is why disk manufactures always tell you to upgrade your firmware if your having problems. I can't do that. No more firmware upgrades. I downloaded "MediaCodeSpeedEdit" and added MKM 003 to my firmware installer. Then told the new MKM 003 listing to use the MKM 001 write strategy. Saved the new firmware and then re-flashed my drive. Now the disks complete the burning process at 4x instead of failing 100% of the time mid way thru the burn with only 2.4x available as an option.

It's Verbatim. Nothing more need be said. None. Over the last couple of years, I have swapped exclusively to Verbatim for my media. I have never ONCE had a dud out of Verbatim. Having used more than three dozen differnt makes of media, I can honestly say that this make is superior to other makes. Doesn't matter if you are using a Sony, Samsung, NEC, Lite-On, Pioneer, Plextor, Asus, or Rosewill burner, if you have verbatim in there, you won't get a coaster because of the MEDIA. I received one made in Singapore (with the orange box as pictured) and one made at the new plant (with a different navy blue/purple box). The pros is that you may still be lucky enough to get a box made in Singapore.
Cons: The con is that it seems like Verbatim really is moving all of its manufacturing plants to the new place and that all of their disks will probably be made there, including this one. Let's just hope that they improve in the quality, up to the standard of their Singapore made ones.

Cons: none of my dvd players or burners recognize this media. I have had great luck verbatim in the past and these are suppose to be made in singapore.

Pros: 1. Media ID = MKM003. This is a first class media code. Other disks that I have bought from Verbatim have been MKM001, which is first class media as well. (First class media means you will have 95-100 % reliable results).
    2. Made in Singapore. My other blank Verbatim media has been made in Taiwan. Am not sure what the story is behind the one's MII.
    Cons: None.

I would never attempt that speed. I always burn my dual layer discs at 2.4x. You are taking a risk anything about 2.4x. I have burnt three DVD's and haven't had one coaster.
If you are burning movies illegally, please do not complain about the product not working at high speeds or your drive not recognizing them. I'm sick of people expecting things to work so fast and perfect when they are trying to steal things. I understand you may get a bad patch or something. But please, do your research and learn how to do something correctly.

Pros: There are only two 'pros' worth mentioning regarding any optical media, and this kind has both:
    1.) Burns fast
2.) The single best quality available on the market for double layer discs
Cons: $2.00 - $2.50 on average for the best double layer discs. $0.35 - $0.40 for the best single layer discs. Anyone smell price fixing on the upper end there?

Speaking from experience, if you go for lower quality, the discs will be unusable in 2 years or less. I still have Verbatims that scan almost flawlessly in my testing hardware more than 4 years after they had data burned onto them. Taiyo Yuden makes the best DVD+R discs, and Verbatim definitely makes the best quality double layer discs. Google CD F reaks and you will find a lot more info there on this subject.

In conclusion, even though the outlook is kinda bleak for high quality DL media, it is good to know that not only are prices coming down on the 8x official DL
